I see that in response to large deficit that the new Gov of Joisey has done something revolutionary....he didn't raise taxes, he's freezing or cutting spending.....GASP! Taking on public employee unions as well and telling the transit system there are no more state subsidies, they have to cut and figure out a way to fly on their own.

Shocking developement. I wonder if he'll end up sleeping with the fishes as a result of this type of thinking!

If he can break the stranglehold the NJEA ( teachers union ) has on this state we will be well on the road to recovery. Our teachers are paid like pro athletes and have called all the shots.

Here's a few stats on Mich.
    1. We are the state with the greatest proportion of senior citiznes. (yep, more than Fla. We are one of 3 states that don't tax public employee pensions.
    2. After a century of being one of the top states in productivity we are now one of the bottom 10. No state has ever had such a decrease.
    3. Since 2000 we have lost 900,000 jobs.
    4. 1 in 6 citizens are eligible for Medicade.
    5. Population has decreased not by the loss of retirees but productive individuals.

And as a personal aside, we continue to remain committed to spending way too much to support teachers unions so that future citizens of other states are well educated.

Gipper, when I made the decision to make my life in Michigan over 30 years ago it was a decision based on a solid history of manufacturing and jobs and wealth.

Eventually I found/earned my way into some good times there and none was more surprised than me when it all went kaboom.

I'm glad I'm out but I'm very sorry it happened and I'm definitely not as well off financially.

I just don't hear of much hope coming out of there.

Strange thing Dave, Michigan is run by Democrats but your viewpoints constantly blame Republicans.

    How can that be?
