Well I guess we can put Bowl season behind us.

We have football recruiting and basketball.

Irish recruiting seems to be down to a few players who will announce on Nat'l Signing Day. A'lize Jones is still a UCLA verbal but everybody says he's going to flip, but he hasn't yet. St. Brown is a WR who everybody says will be Irish but he's a Nat'l Signing Day kid. There are a couple of kids who they are looking at for a 2nd RB, but none of them are sure things. Jones is gone to USC, and Jamabo is supposedly a UCLA lock and if something happens there he's not likely to double back to ND at this point. There is talk that Tillery is going to come in as a DL instead of an OT, and that they are talking to another OL who they had previously recruited but then stopped. That doesn't sound like a recipe to get the kid to ND. So we are likely not to finish in the top 10 with recruiting, top 15 likely. Some really good players, but also a lot of kids who will need to develop.

Men's Basketball is in Chapel Hill tonight to play UNC. Road win vs UNC would be awesome, but very tough to get. Irish are ranked higher than UNC but that doesn't really mean much.

Womens Basketball won yesterday at Syracuse. Brianna Turner the freshman from the Houston area is continuing to have a great season. Irish should be one of the best teams in the ACC and the country all year.

Lacrosse should be starting up soon, Mens team again will be one of the top teams in the country. ACC will be very strong.

He's much better than the QB at LSU now. Why not.

the selfish side of me wants him to stay.
the coach in me wants him to stay because I don't believe we can win with this offense and less than two game ready quarterbacks.
Then there's the side of me that says 'who am I?' If the kid wants out, let him go.

Still, we really need to game ready QBs in this offense.

Well I guess I was a little surprised about this but when I thought about it I guess it makes sense for Golson. I'm sure he sees the writing on the wall and wants to make the best move for himself. I want him to stay BUT I'm not convinced he will overcome the issues that caused Kelly to pull him. He had several chances but even in the bowl game(as JO'Co already mentioned) he threw that pass that he shouldn't have(and luckily was caught).

We do need a quality backup but I'm sure Kizer or the incoming freshman Wimbush(who is great) should be more than adequate as far as backups.

In short, I think Golson's time at ND has come and gone. He had a chance and was given more than ample opportunity to prove himself. I wish him all the best and I wish things had worked for him at ND.</r>

I don't know what the rules are to tell you the truth, but I would be surprised that as long as he's on scholarship with ND that other schools can't talk to him and while there is probably no rule against his dad calling LSU and asking about it.

Lou Holtz 78 years young today. Happy Birthday Lou.

Here he is in his Jets day, his smile is because he knows he can win with Joe Namath running the option a few times a game to keep the defenses honest!! :)

You have to ask permission to talk with another school. It's a very formal process that I believe has to be initiated by the school, which no one does. He can be asked to be released from his scholarship, which is an expensive way to free up the phone line.

There's just this part of me that thinks he'll be back. We really need 2 game ready QBs and I know Golson is game ready (although with massive confidence problems). I'm not sure about Kizer or some kid in high school.

Ken Jeong has done a 30 for 30 report on student athletes, one of them is Reggie Ho. I saw a clip of an interview Ken did with Olbermann about it and it looks like it will be very good.

    Ken Jeong on Reggie Ho

The clip starts out talking about Stuart Scott then they get to Reggie. If I remember correctly Corey was a kicker in HS, he should be interested in Reggies Theory on kicking! :)

    I think it's on tonight.

Thanks for posting this guys! I had been looking forward to this since I saw the initial interview with Jeong (one of the few people on this planet, that I readily admit is more odd than I). I knew it was coming out around the holidays but hadn't seen the release. Thanks again! I'm really excited about this.

Kind of funny, for whatever the reason Lou struggled getting a kicker to ND, we had a run of guys who just weren't up to the level that you'd think you would find at ND. Craig Hentrich was really good till he got injured in the Tenn game right before the half after that we had a string of guys you just couldn't really count on. That opened it up for Reggie to make it, Lou didn't have a kicker on scholarship who was ready or any good.

Where as it always seemed like FSU and Miami had guys who could make a kick from anywhere on the field. Same for Michigan, they always seemed to have an outstanding kicker.

The most telling statement about Reggie Ho was after that big win against Michigan where he was the hero, he went to the library to study.
