Time to start a new topic focused on ND Basketball, Lacrosse, Hockey, Recruiting, etc. Football is over. Irish Women continue to win and be an excellent basketball team, but they miss the play and leadership that Jewell Lloyd would have brought to this years team. Maddison Cable has taken that job it appears, but she's not the player that Jewell would have been for the Irish this year. I expect they will be a top 10 team all year and a #1 or #2 seed in the tournament. But they will need Brianna Turner to stay healthy all year, they really have a big hole in the middle without her. Irish Men will be a work in progress this year, there is no Pat Connaughton or Jerian Grant on this team to will them to wins. A lot of good players but besides DJ not any outstanding playes. I don't think DJ is the leader that Grant and Connaughton were, but that's a pretty high bar to match. I see that Brey named Steve Vasturia as the captain the other day, seemed a little odd to name one after the season starts. Middle of the pack in the ACC and hopefully we make the ACC tournament and the NCAA. Missing one or both would not be a complete shock to me, though I think there is enough talent on the team to do pretty well if the can come together with the same level of effort that they showed last year in the elite 8 run. Hockey: I see that ND sop, Bjork, had a great tournament for the USA in the world Jr's. Team seems to be pretty good and should get better when he's back with the team. We've beaten BC who is always a top 5 type team. But we don't look like a Frozen Four team. Lacrosse...odds on favorite to win the ACC and a Nat'l Title Recruiting. Only a few spots left, a couple of guys who we are still in the running for will be NSD decisions and a couple will be announcing soon at the US Army game in San Antonio. Could really use that kid Caleb Kelly but OU is supposedly the leader, and the kid Roberston from Georgia would be our best WR recruit in this class, but it's iffy.
The one going to ND. Khalid Kareem. He took the game MVP. He scored on 1 fumble and almost scored on another. The kid is very fast and physical. http://www.ndinsider.com/irishstew/...cle_17d6153c-b2a4-11e5-b4fa-4f8a5b10a71c.html
Lol.... This is too funny. Kirby Smart must really want Demetrius Robinson pretty bad, he offered his 8th grade nephew a scholarship.
Good wins last night for both the men and women in basketball. For the women it was especially encouraging to see Brianna Turner have another great game.
Just curious if you still had the time to follow. Watched some of the Western Michigan game last night. Slapped them around pretty good. We seem to be good but not great this year.
ND <t>Little good news today. Jacob McKinley committed to the Irish today. Pretty highly rated WR out of CA</t>
Sadly, I can only catch a random game here and there. We have a DI program here in town, but their schedule didn't have ND on it this year. From the little I've seen of ND, they can beat anyone and come playoff time, that's all that matters.
I have seen Javon McKinley play many, many times on TV. His school, Centennial HS in Corona has been one of the top powers here in California for over twenty years. He's big. He's a burner, and I'm very happy that he chose the Irish. Similar players to him, like Adoree Jackson and JuJu Smith have been going to USC or Oregon in recent years. I'm glad we were able to land him. He's a nuclear grade weapon and he can play right away... <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0TpAc0tToDs" frameborder="0"></iframe> <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/btXmgZ_Zs5A" frameborder="0"></iframe>
McKinley really looks good in those videos. I hope he has a great career at ND!! I'm not counting on it but I would really like to finish with Robinson the Wr from Georgia (blazing speed) and McCulloch the LB from Texas and Caleb Kelly the LB from Calif. Irish Women thrashed UNC yesterday and the men had a huge come back attempt at home vs Pitt that fell just a little short. The Men dug themselves a very deep hole before they decided to start playing. Almost made it back. Hockey had a huge win on Friday Nite 7-1 over WMU and then coughed up a 3-0 lead to end up with a 3-3 tie. Something I didn't know is that the various Hockey leagues all have different rules for settling ties in OT. Apparently vs WMU the agreement was that a tie was a tie, they played an exhibition tie breaker which was NCHC rules, 3 on 3. Very odd.
Nice story about Ishaq Williams and the support he's received from all at ND to get his degree and try again for the NFL. http://www.ndinsider.com/football/i...1e5-b0ce-afaa7a672ce1.html?platform=hootsuite
I wish him well. While we're on the wish trail, I wish he was as dedicated tohis academics 2 yrs ago as he apparently is now.
Yeah it's a good story, ND and Kelly bent over backwards it seems to me to help him finish his degree and to also continue to work out and stay in shape so he can still try to make an NFL training camp. Like Gip said, it's too bad he didn't dedicate himself like this before, but sometimes you have to learn the hard way.
Well, I read where Harbaugh was going to sleep with a kicker to convince him to come to Michigan.
