Well it's here!! The Battle at the Alamo Dome!! Just to remind everybody, Irish pep rally is at the Alamo Plaza starting at 7PM these things usually last about 1 hour then there is a post part at Pat O'Briens hosted by the ND Club of San Antonio. I have the tickets for the Sat Tailgate to be held at Sunset Station which is within walking distance of the Alamo Dome. They have a website for you so you can get directions. It starts at 1:30, I'll probably be there sometime after that maybe 2PM or there abouts. I'll need to get you guys your tickets to the tailgater on Friday night so if you aren't going to Pat O'Briens let me know where you'll be and we'll figure it out. Terry
Turns out Wash State Alumni are also tailgating at Sunset Station. So it should be a good crowd! Terry
On paper this game should be the easiest of the year. WSU statistically is 111th on offense and 119th on defense. However it's the passing game, which is ND weakness, that is the one unit that WSU has that is good. They are ranked 55th and threw for 354yds against CAL. Here's the link to the ISD Wazzu game preview: Wash State Preview
Terry, My flight is scheduled to arrive in Austin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Barring any delays, Cindy and I should be at Pat O'Briens. At what hotel are you staying?
I'm envious of you guys. Wish I could join you, but it wasn't in the cards. Have safe travel and a great time. My best to all.
HAHA!! You Irish knuckle-heads are about to get a nasty mauling from the Cougars!! No weekend is complete without some leprechaun stew!!! (I love talking trash when it's not my school that has to back it up!) Terry, I thought we just had to show a DL at the door?? Kesley and I should be rolling into town about 1 on Saturday. We have to pick up his sister, get checked in at the motel, and then we'll be there to swap war stories.
Sounds like you'll be the last ones there, if you aren't getting to SA till 1PM and will have to check into the hotel, etc. They did tell me initally that they were just going to have a list with names but then they sent me tickets. So I'll likely be there before you, so just give me a call on your cell when you get to the entrance and I'll come up and get you guys. I believe we've exchanged cell numbers if not let me know and I'll email you. Terry
BTW Las Vegas must not be paying much attention to the ND pass defense as they have installed the Irish as 30 point favorites in this game. The one thing the Cougars can do is pass the football. I don't see a 30 point beat down by this team against any team that can throw the football. Terry
I'm tempted to bet the ranch and take WSU and the outrageous point spread but with my luck this will be the week Charlie plays for style points instead of a win is a win.
It's being reported now that Gio Bernard the outstanding RB from St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale is going to give Charlie his verbal. Supposedly his teammate Cody Riggs has eliminated ND and is down to the Gators and Georgia. I hope we can get that big tackle from STA, we really need him.
Terry, I am staying at the same hotel that Scott is staying at... I think: Days Inn Riverwalk. If that's true, I can take the tickets back with me and leave them at the front desk for Scott to pick up when he checks in. I know I have your cell but probably not many more. I'll post on the sticky for everyone to send theirs to me and I'll reply with mine.
The Cougs found themselves a great freshman QB during the USC game and their passing O has looked great since. Still, we should handle this team. This one is killing me because I had this circled to go, but had a bit of carpet pulled out from underneath me... The upside, Carson and I are going to go buck wild on Halloween around town.
Sorry to hear you won't make it Corey. I was looking forward to having my "chaos" ally for discussions of the state of CFB... Hopefully next time.
Corey, A better time can be had with your young son than with a bunch of old beer drinking guys. At least the memories will be better years down the road.
Scott, (and Tom) My son's 10 so the days of trick or treat are winding down and I don't get to spend many of these types of days with him. I get to do a lot of the blue collar stuff while missing on the fun stuff. I guess my ex has plans so I am reaping the benefits. Although, even he has entertained the idea that we just pile up in the car and pull a roadie..... but I bought him his own Katana for his Halloween costume so now he HAS to put it to use (trick or treating, not on people.. I hope). But I am bummed I wont be seeing you guys this weekend, I had been looking forward to it. Scott, we will have to go back to sending our secret chaos messages via the old channels
Nice win by the Irish. It was felt a little strange to watch a Notre Dame with empty seats. PJ in Jersey
Attendance listed at 53,000. That could have been a very expensive win. Clausen's toe will not heal until the offseason and its clear that it can knock him out of any game at any time. Crist has some kind of knee injury and the thought is that it is either hyperextended or its an ACL. Trevor Robinson is on crutches.
Looks... <t>Like in addition to the win it was a very good venue for the Irish and the fans. <br/> Weis says TR was walking K after the game which is good as he is clearly our best guy there. JC will be Ok but his foot will linger all year. I hope for the best on Crist and his MRI Monday. The laser shot and run to Goodman was big league. Goodman can play and will really help this year and in the future.<br/> Run out of things to say about Tate. Super player and young man.<br/> <br/> My final regular season prediction is 8-4 for this team. No idea on what bowl that puts them in but no BCS. Is all that enough to bring CW back? No prediction there.<br/> <br/> I'm anxious to get the notes and feedback from the Irish fans here that were at the game but still miss the great epic novel JOCo travel journals.</t>
