Well while many SEC teams are playing FCS opponents this weekend, like Charleston Southern, FAU and W.Carolina...they Irish at least play a Power 5 conference team in Wake Forrest. We are 25+ point favorites, and should win handily at home on Sr. day. But not so fast!! Wake Forrest is not a bad defensive team, very tough in the red zone! So I don't think we can sleep walk through this game. But if we come to play with a purpose we should be able to put them away early and let the backups get a lot of play in the 2nd half. I expect that we won't see CJ Prosise, he may practice this week and be available to play if we need him, but I expect Adams and Williams will carry the load this weekend. McGlinchey will be ready to go Sat, I think Kelly said he has an ankle sprain and was in a boot Sunday and Monday, but should practice and play on Sat. As with other positions, if we can get out front early and put them away the starters on the OL can get some rest in the 2nd half and the backups can get some valuable playing time. Wake Forrest is not very good on offense, so maybe this will be a break out game for Joe Schmidt. But seriously both Coney and Morgan should get long looks at LB vs Wake. Hopefully Day and Rochell will also get extended rest. They have played a lot of snaps
If Winbush does get in let's hope that on third and long he gets to throw the ball not some stupid QB draw. The kid shouldn't have fumbled but that call was almost as stupid as handing the ball off to Cam McDaniel instead of taking a knee.
I think on that fumble the LB just blew by the backup OL and Wimbush never really had a chance. That whole series he was in was a big cluster *****. No play looked good. Even his run for a 1st down, which was a good example of how elusive he is running the ball, was a broken play.
ND <r><QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> <br/> I agree Terry. Adams and Williams should be more than enough to keep the ground game humming along against WF so CJ needs to sit and heal.<br/> <br/> Looking forward to the next edition of "A season with Notre Dame" on showtime tonight. I was skeptical about how this series would be this season but so far I've been very pleased at what Showtime has done with this. I think it's a big positive for the team and the school.</r>
Me too Tim, that series has been great and like you my initial reaction was..NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Don't do it!
ND <t>Just a thought about Navy. As most of you know I hate this game we play every year with the Naval Academy for many reasons but most of all I complain because it usually doesn't benefit us when we do win and hurts us a lot we we lose. This year is the first that I can remember when having a win over Navy actually does help us.</t>
We certainly have some players who it will be nice to have them choose to return. Fuller is one of them, to be fair though every year there are players who say they are coming back and end up going to the NFL. I hope Fuller isn't one of them, I hope if he does follow through and come back that he has another great year and graduates. Win/Win. As far as the NFL goes and as great as he is as a college receiver I wonder if he's a 1st rounder? If not then I can't imagine another year will change that. I would love to see Jaylon come back, I would love to see CJ come back. Now Jaylon legitimately will be a 1st rounder and maybe a high first rounder. CJ as a RB is not likely to be a 1st rounder, RB's unless they are super elite are more likely to go in the 2nd or 3rd round. CJ certainly could grow more in his position, but he will graduate this year and with the development of Adams, the presence of Williams and the return of Taurean Folston he could see less action next year. I'd advise him to go to the NFL if he's projected to go in the 1st 3 rounds, with his degree. Stanley can come back, but he already delayed going to the NFL 1 year, not going to happen 2 years in a row.
I watched the latest Showtime last night, it was again very good. Got some new guys in the mix, no Jerry Tillery ...Josh Adams mom, Tori Hunter Jr and his family. I thought the scene at the batting cages was pretty cool, seeing some of those guys swing and miss at a tee'd up baseball was hilarious. Although maybe Corey or JO'Co can explain to me why Tori was practicing hitting a bll off of a tee in the first place, why not use the pitching machine? Kizer looked pretty comfortable on that skateboard, I sure hope he doesn't take a tumble though and break a wrist or something. He wasn't wearing a helmet!
These guys have ND #1 strength of schedule! Think I should post the link on Joel's facebook page! http://www.bcftoys.com/2015-sos/
Don't bother, Terry. When you posted the NCAA SOS rankings on Facebook, showing ND at no. 5, he refused to comment. Instead, he chided me for editing my post. When you confront him with facts that refute his baseless argument, he either clams up or tries to change the subject. That's our Jif, annoying but loveable.
  re: beisbol Hitting off the tee is for working on your mechanics. Hitting off a machine or batting practice pitcher is to work on your timing.
ND <t>With all due respect to baseball, I just hope that the "Timing" between Kizer and Fuller stays what it has been. If so, then we should have no problem with WF.</t>
Irish lose Equanimeous St. Brown to a shoulder injury. I was hoping to see a lot of him in the 2nd half vs Wake Forrest. But it seems like he might be done for the year. Too bad, we'll be fine without him on offense but he was a good special teams player and I think he's the guy who got the punt block vs USC. Hopefully he'll be 100% by the Fall camp, from what I've heard shoulders are very tough rehab and I'd wonder if he'd be able to participate in Spring Practice. I assumed he'd be 1st in line to take over for Will Fuller, but now that Fuller is coming back we're solid at that position.
Speaking of shoulders, Kelly said CJ will have to fight through shoulder issues the rest of the season. Said he could practice today if the MD's clear him, but won't take any hits. Coach Terry says, it's time to sit him for a game.
I just wanted to take a moment to point out (before kickoff and things go one way or the other), that it is nice to be in the position of saying "I hope to God we don't play our #1 TB and I have full confidence in our backups." It's been a while. The remarkable thing this year is we're often referring to having confidence in guys who were the backups to the backups. What a hell of a year for injuries. Also, it seems every year there are big injuries that are able to come back for the bowl game if it's big enough... or the playoff last year. It seems we're not even fortunate enough to have injuries like that, they've all been season ending.
