Another great rivalry, but this year both teams coming off of bad games. Trojans were crushed by UCLA and the Irish lost of course to Louisville a decent but not great team. Irish defense will be even thinner if that is possible and the offense probably has to be having big time doubts about everything they do, esp Everett Golson and I fear they will play very tentatively fearing making a mistake rather than just go out there and have fun and play up to their capability. Kelly is 3-1 vs USC and has never lost to them in L.A.
Bad guys 7 point favorites. I'm sure by now everybody knows that the Irish Men lost to Providence in a very tight game. The Irish Women on the other hand won 104-29 over Holy CroSss. Irish Women soccer team lost a close tough game vs Texas A&M on Sunday. The Irish Men had a bye and will next face Ohio State in defense of their Soccer title. Irish Hockey 1-0-1 vs UMass Lowell this weekend.
Golson's confidence appears to have vanished. The defense is porous because of injury and bad technique. Brindza is now a wild card because of his troubles. Only the fact that USC is equally in the dumpster makes this matchup debatable. The BGI BB is a treasure trove of panic and despair. There is even a movement afoot to hire Rex Ryan as the next HC.
Oh that oughta be good for Golson's confidence. Ryan can teach him the art of the butt fumble to go with his miseries.
In some article I read, maybe it was the misery index that AJ posted they made a comment that maybe Sarkesian isn't as good a HC as Kiffin. That says something about him. USC does have some incredible skill talent... but it's also young and maybe not well coached. I would agree that Golson is not got the look of a confident QB. He really needs this game and the bowl game to go well and get him set up for a good season next year. I'm pretty sure that if you had eligibility left Krebs we could suit you up and You'd be quality depth!
At least for the 1st half in place of Morgan or behind Martini.....or until you run out of gas, whichever comes first.
I wanted to play for the Irish. In 1973. But they said they couldn't use a 178 lb. LB. I told them I played C too. Still unimpressed.
Jarron Jones and Drue Tranquill out for season, Jones with ligament tear in foot; Tranquill with ACL tear.
I'm ready Doc. What I lack in speed I more than make up for by being less than 6' and not particularly bright. Put me in!
Notre Dame in your sideview mirror. Pretty cool. I don't know what Kendall did to be dismissed, but he accepted his fate in a pretty classy manner and posted a fairwell on Instagram that was well done and with out rancor. He already had his degree and was in grad school, I guess he was able to finish the semester since that's what this picture seems to imply. Good luck to the kid.
I don't know exactly Sid. He was one of the "Frozen Four" and while they all lost this year on the field, except Eliar Hardy who will be a key piece vs USC given the injuries. But Daniels, Williams and Russell all were dismissed for 2 semesters. From what I understand that by not finishing this semester, that meant that it counted as one of their semesters, and the Spring Semest would make 2...so they would be eligble to return and play next fall. Moore had no more eligibilty left so sitting out the remainder of this semester was not going to affect that so he might have decided to finish his classes and accept the 2 semester ban, knowing that he would not bother to return for his graduate degree in what ever it was he was studying. Hardy is tougher to figure out nobody has ever said what his punishment woudl be, and it clearly must be different that the others since he's back playing. Many speculated he would graduate in Dec and move on and play his last season somewhere else. But by playing this year he's done. So I don't know what his deal was and why he was different. BTW: Daniels is supposedly trying to decide on coming back in 2015, and the University is supposedly trying to decide if he can even come back then..if ever.
The bill of fare for ND Students on Thanksgiving Day 1939. My nephew said that most students who lived too far to go home for Thanksgiving (his parents lived in Utah/Orange County) usually went home with kids who could drive home, not a lot stayed on campus for the Holiday. I guess it was pretty much the same during Gippers and Sid's days. They have since expanded the offering...if I were in the area this would look pretty good to me! No cooking and no dishes afterwards! Celebrate Thanksgiving Dinner with the Notre Dame Community. The Notre Dame Dining Halls have featured a Thanksgiving Day Dinner for more than 70 years. Gameday is here... Trojans 9-4 in the 21st Century vs the Irish. Brian Kelly is 3-1 though. We'll have to outscore these guys if we are going to win because they are likely going to abuse our defense.
