This is the game that Joel has been looking forward to all year!! :)

I was thinking that it comes at a great time, new QB and need to get the true freshman some work at QB. So blowing out the Minutemen would be perfect. Have the starters on the bench early after putting it out of reach by halftime. Yup that's what I was thinking. Then somebody made this post on another board. I went ...whaaaaaat?? Don't tell me this is going to be another W.Michigan game where we win but have to play them to the 4th qtr to do it.

I was really hoping for a blowout at halftime and no more injuries for sure.

    Maybe it can still happen.

I can see playing 0ne, mabe 2 pussies a year...but please...running the table against such weak teams really makes no sense. I wont even try to predict the score of this one. BTW about 80 years ago...Georgia tech beat a school 220 to zip. Could some of these next games for ND be in that class?

but, but, the UMass QB is supposedly their best QB since Greg Landry! You remember him from the NFL right? Mark Whipple supposedly an outstanding coach. They played Temple better than Penn State.

BTW: what's your thoughts on Temple? The gurus are thinking they will run the table and maybe play in a big bowl this year.

btw UMASS plays home games at Gillette...average 10,000 a game.

also Mark Whipple (UMASS coach) was all Ivy Qback at Brown about 20 years ago

How can they afford the rent on 10K fans? I guess everybody gets a 50yd line seat though.

I wonder who is going to replace Tranquil? He wasn't a starter, Shumate and Redfield were the starters. But he's better than Farley for sure, Baratti has been playing special teams and at one time I thought he was going to be a really good safety..that was before his shoulder injuries. Still has good wheel's I'm guessing though.

<t>well the obvious is that ND needs to get up on UMass fast and get some 2nd and 3rd stringers some playing time. I really think we need to see Wimbush get some meaningful playing time in this game.</t>

Bill Reagan thinks Wimbush needs to get some snaps in the 1st half rather than wait till late in the game when (hopefully) it's in control and he's just handing the ball off.

Everything though is predicated on getting off to a fast start and burying them before halftime. I'm for playing Kizer the whole first half, he needs the playing time more than Wimbush. What I would like to see if possible is for Adams and Williams to get a lot of carries and limit Prosise to 15 carries in the game. I'd like to see a lot of backups on defense get playing time as well.

Problem of course will be if UMass doesn't cooperate and stays to close to go to backups early in the 2nd half.

I've heard that the Pope is going to swing by and he's going to have a prime tailgating spot to enjoy meeting the fans. Gipper always said it's more important to get a good tailgating spot than a good seat! :)

I saw all I needed to see right there.
You guys will empty the bench, and be ready for the next game with no drama...

Here's a short on who he is, works with Mike Frank now but has been in the Ath Dept at ND in the past and now runs a QB Camp and works for Irish Sports Daily.

Fox Sports rates ND's schedule #7 toughest Joel.

Terry, thanks for the info on Bill Reagan. Looks to me like he has credibility. I'm cool with him.

I listen to the "Power Hour" on ISD throgh iTunes. Reagan is the co-host with Mike Frank. I really like listening to him. BTW if you don't listen, you should give it and the Irish Illustrated one as well a try. They are both free.

I'm probably taking Umass and the points. ND is notoriously bad covering large spreads. I may eat my words but I have the stats on my side.

Plus this is a classic letdown scenario between a big win and a big opponent next.

I know what you're saying George. I expect to be down 14-3 at the end of the 3rd period and spend the next 2 hrs. just livid.
I'd like to see Winbush play a series or 2 in the first half. Let him play with the first string against a first string.
