I couldn't bear to watch the game because I thought it would be a replay of that 1985 Miami/ND game to close out the Faust era. I just could stand to see the team get hammered by Stanford and Harbaugh. So nobody was more suprised than me to find out that we actually made a game of it, and lost by only a TD. That we had the ball and driving when the clock ran out. I saw that Charlie let the Stanford kid score to get the ball back with enough time to force OT. I have to wonder why Harbaugh let his guy score. It seems to me that the best strategy would be to run as much time off the clock as possible and kick a FG. The only way the Irish could have won that game is to get the ball back and drive for a tie and OT or a 2 pt conversion and a win. Why he let that happen is puzzling. Or maybe Harbaugh never thought of that. Anyway, there is a press conference at 6pm today to formally announce Charlies firing. I'm not sorry to see him go, I am sorry he failed. I thought he worked hard and he proved that you can recruit at ND by working hard. He was just a mediocre head coach. I have no doubt that if Brian Kelly had been our Head Coach this year that we would have been no worse that 10-2 and that our defense would have been better. That is my biggest disappointment this year that our defense was not very good. I really thought coming into the season that we would be good to very good on defense even though we were a little young. I thought that the 2nd season of Tenuata's calling the plays would result in a more agressive and successful defense. Instead it was worse. NEXT!
