OK Bobda, sweet jams from Michigan vs Pecan Pie from Texas?

I'm a little wary of this game, don't have a great feeling. Mich with Harbaugh has a better HC in pretty much every opinion I read, and they also have a Veteran elite DC in Brown and a returning defense that everybody says is as good as the Georgia defense that came to South Bend last year . They also have the #1 ranked HS QB in the 2016 class in transfer Shea Patterson.

The Irish on the other hand have a coach who many fans detest, not all for sure, but there is a large anti-Kelly camp out there. A DCoord who is a first time DCoord, and our OCoord is in his 2nd year and a young relatively inexperienced HC. We also have a new OL coach who has history with Kelly, some think that isn't a good thing, but right now we just don't know. He has been out of coaching for a couple of years but has been around the team in various jobs since he was canned at Buffalo a couple of years ago. So he knows the players.

We have a QB who is an immensely talented runner but a suspect passer, has he improved can he make the throws he couldn't make last year? We have a lot of potential talent at WR but they haven't proved it yet, same for TE, where Alize Mack was once considered a lock as a 1st day NFL draft choice, but hasn't played like it after his freshman year. We have a talented OL but several guys playing at new positions and against that UM defense not an especially good way to try and get some cohesion on that OL. Our starting RB had a hard time staying on the field last year, our other top RB is on probation for transgressions off the field and won't play till Oct. The other guys have never taken a snap at RB in college.

The defense on paper seems like we should be a very good defense. Keeping Clark Lea assured that we would not have any major changes in the scheme and if Lea has it in him to be a great DCoord on game...well then this could be the best defense since the Manti Te'o 2012 defense.

Kicker and Punter are both good.

As I said I don't have a good feeling about this game. History of these game with a few exceptions is that they are close games. Most expect this game to be close.

So many questions about this year's team. We'll just have to see what we've got.

<t>We have a lot of fans that dislike Kelly. Much of the football world in general dislikes Harbaugh.

If (Big If) Wimbush has even a descent game we win this one at home. Maybe not by much but a win.

Vegas line changing from ND +1.5 to ND -1.

I like our chances in this one.

Go Irish!</t>

What happened at M's last visit to South Bend makes me cautious about predicting a M victory. Plus, it is hard to get the debacle of our bowl game against South Carolina out of my mind. Our defense will be very good but our running game and offensive line were pretty pedestrian last year so lots of improvement is needed on those two fronts. Patterson in highly touted but he got the crap kicked out of him last year at Mississippi and did not play all that well. When Rudock transfered to M from Iowa, he did not look comfortable running M's offense until mid season and I would be surprised if Patterson came out with guns blazing in his first game, especially a tough game on the road.

I would not be suprised to see Kelly play 2 QBs in this game.

Like your opener last year with Georgia, I suspect this will be a game where both defenses will play well but both offenses might be painful to watch.

Cal had Patterson's number in the 2nd half last year, hopefully we went to school on that film.

I hate the wailing wall and gnashing of teeth because it's a respected opponent. BC has ruined more national title runs for us than Michigan has in the past several years. Screw these guys.

    GO IRISH!
    BEAT MICHIGAN!!

It's supposed to be a "Green Out" game. Irish fans haven't in the past been all that great at this sort of thing. We tend to wear what we wear, other fanbases like Penn State with their White Out and The Aggies with their Maroon Out are much more successful at this.

That was the beginning of the end for Brady Hoke wasn't it. I don't expect this Irish team can be that good nor do I expect your QB play to be as bad as it was for Michigan that day. These games are typically close low scoring games, the blowout like that 2014 game are pretty rare, UM blew Tyrone Willingham out in 2003 by 38-0 and Charlie Weis in 2007 by the same score.

The most recent Irish heartbreak for me was the 2011 game where the much maligned Tom Rees drove the Irish to a score to take the lead with 28-24 with 31 seconds left. I felt that wrapped it up was smoking my victory cigar, Shoelaces was not the passing QB to whip it down the field in 30 seconds he was more likely to scramble for 30 seconds and run out the clock. But our pass defense somehow let him do just that and UM scored to win the game with 2 seconds left. I couldn't believe it. Of course that came on the heels of the 2010 last second UM victory and even worse maybe Tate Forcier's last second play to beat the Irish in 2009. All those were games I thought we had won. Pain.

I don't expect a lot of points. To me, the Irish chances all come down to Brandon Wimbush. If he is in good form then we have a good chance. We will have a decided physical advantage in the WR matchups. Now if we just have time to pass....

I think the Irish DBs step up big in this one.....

A little over the top, but for an Irish fan a nice read. Some of his comments are in the WTF category. Like when he says it's not a rivalry for the Irish, and when he says it's extremely hard for Irish footballers to get a redshirt year.

    Michigan's Super Bowl?

During Holtz's era, the ND game, in terms of fan interest, was certainly equal to the OSU game.

But in the present era, the MSU and OSU games generate far greater fan intensity given Urban's and Dantonio's success against us.

Start to find out tomorrow night if Harbaugh is in for a great pat on the back kind of year or a heat bringing lousy year.

Tough break for Irish DB Shaun Crawford who was set to have a big year, tore his ACL. He will be missed on defense.

All eyes will be on Brandon Wimbush tomorrow, that's for sure.

This time of the year I think of past good times. G man getting us a table at the bar and holding it till we all get back from the pep rally to down pitchers of 4 horseman ale. Gripper and Mary, JO'CO and Diane, Stu sometimes, Sid, Tim and son, Nephew Brian, and all sorts of friends who weren't there every year but Fun times. I am going to the Vanderbilt game with 3 family members and it's going to be fun just not the same as when we had so many of the old Prodigy group.
