A great game from Jif's youth!! No more, Irish should take care of business early. Charlie said at yesterdays pep rally that the Irish had some special things ready for early in the game. Hopefully the Irish will get up on them quickly and that he can play a lot of Sr's. It'd be great if all the walkons got to play today. I watched the pep rally last night, very good stuff with the Sr's and their parents/sweeties/grandma's/etc. John Sullivan looks older than his dad, and Dan Santucci's mom looks like his hot sister. Personally I'm ready for the game!!!
workman-like first half, solid, slow starting...I'd hope we would come out and really put it on them. They aren't as good as USNA or USAFA and are more conventional so we should get more touches against them.
Terrific Sr. Day. A walk-on TB gets a couple of caries and gets a 1st down. The post game with the Irish standing with the Cadets for their Alma Mater was great but then the Cadets came over and stood with the Irish for the Notre Dame Alma Mater really topped it off. This is one of my favorite Sr. Classes a lot of really great student athletes. I do take exception though that they dismiss guys like Montana and Theisman and declare Quinn the greatest ND QB ever, he's certainly ONE of the greatest ND QB's ever....but I hate to see them call him THE greatest ever. Times are different and his stats are so much better, but it's not always about stats, esp when comparing QBs from different eras. Terry
As great as the Brady comebacks were this year, they don't match up with some of Montana's especially the chichen soup bowl. Montana and Theisman had better defenses. They won bowls. Montana won a NC. That being said, neither had as little support from the rest of the team than Brady has had. Brady backers can make a strong point.
Just got back from the game. The team I saw today cannot beat USC......and I'm not talking about Army. Special teams and penalties. Ugh!
Everytime I get down on the Irish performance each week I kick myself. For god's sake, we're 10-1! Charlie is 19-4 since he arrived. We are not NC contenders but we are not far off. To beat USC would be a big bonus. To win a bowl game even bigger. It's a little cool down here in Hobe Sound.
Gentlemen, I do not see you beating USC, but my Skybox predictions have not been that great! Brady has enjoyed a fine year and set numerous records, but I too would be hesitant to call hime the greatest QB of all times. The program is making great strides under Charlie and things should keep improving. By any accounts you have had a very successful season. Don
I'm with you George. Why don't we take our respective, inferior 10-1 teams, play out the string and meet in the Sugar Bowl to see which one is more inferior.... ....whaddya say?
Lets... <t>Be realistic as most are always on this great board. I love the great job CW and staff are doing at ND. What a future but this years team has holes that are obvious. I mentioned last week I would not get on the defense again but here is one Irish fan that will cover my eyes each Booty snap next weekend. It could get ugly watching no pass rush and Lambert, Richardson and Z trying to chase Smith, Jarrett etc. Factor that in with the next SC tailback star C.J. Gable look out. Would I love to be wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br/> I fear for Brady with the average to poor O-Line play as well but then Quinn is a special young man so I expect him to play well.<br/> Finishing the regular season in Weis's second year at 10-2 is much to be proud of but until we get all the horses in the barn a quality bowl win will be a tough nut to crack. We are what we are and that is not bad in year two.</t>
The SC defense was impressive to me last night as I thought Cal had some talent on offense but couldn't get going. Quinn is much better than the Cal Qb however. SC's defense will keep the game fairly close...close enough for Booty and the O to score enough points to win. SC 28 ND 20
USC has a lot of talent, Pete has had back/back/back/back/back top rated recruiting classes. It amazing how much talent he lost from last year yet here he is still with one of the best teams in the nation. But while I respect USC, I do not fear USC. I think our team and coaches will play them very well, I do think we have a chance to win that game. I certainly understand being the underdog and I relish that role. BEAT SC!! Terry
