Irish open as 1.5 point underdogs. I like it.

Oh great, one more thing for this team to accomplish only to be told it's not enough later on.

I just want Florida State at the end of this road.

Also, I'm starting to hope for a Florida SEC Championship..and I'm pretty sure I've never said that before.

The Irish were underdogs in last year's win over assu, weren't they?

The Graham cracker has done well during his tenure in Tempe, but last year he struggled in the "national stage" type games (Stanford and Notre Dame during the regular season, Stanford in the Pac-12 championship game, Texas Tech in the Holiday Bowl).

This year he's beaten Stanford (though it's a lesser Stanford) and he beat USC in LA with 3 touchdowns during the last four minutes of the game. I'd really like to see Notre Dame put an end to this nonsense.

The Irish will score a lot of points. But can Uncle Rico come up with a scheme to stop the Sun Devils?

The smart money is jumping on ASU, Irish opened at -1-11/2...now supposedly up to -3. I am assuming that the news that Joe Schmidt is out was driving the money to ASU.

Other than that melt down vs UCLA, Sun Devils have been a solid team. Kelly is a very good QB, but we have seen him before and beaten him. Plus I really doubt we'll see another QB as good as Jameis Winston, I expect that he's more like the UNC QB and if they get going up tempo he can hurt us, esp with an inexperienced 1st time freshman starter at MLB. Maybe BVG will tell him to just line up and "Kill' the QB forget everything else. That might work. :)

Golson, the OL and Folston are all going to have to have very good nights. We won't have Foxy to bail us out. :)

Oh yeah I sure hope Kyle Brindza just had one of those days, he hit his two FG's like I hit my wedge on #13...Fat. Same result.

Napoleon Dynamite's uncle in the movie. Corey and I believe he resembles ND defensive coordinator in both appearance and dememanor.

I tried to watch that movie but like Dumb and Dumer I couldn't make it.

BTW: while across the country schools are dealing with student apathy for football game attendance, it is apparently not that way at Arz State. They are sleeping out in tents for tickets to the ND/ASU game.

    Camp Fargo at ASU

    A shot at Will Fuller???
Also Kelly took a shot at teams who play a FCS team, he said they scheduled another bye week. Our schedule is what it is, it was considered very tough at the beginning of the season, now some say it's a bunch of cupcakes and FSU. Can't do anything about the other schools maybe having worse years than expected. Still have a couple of very good teams left starting with ASU, then Louisville and finishing with USC. Oh yeah I expect that Northwestern will come here jacked up to the max.

Here's Kelly on the schedule. His comments are already getting Nat'l Press and not really in a good way. I can bet you when I listen to XM College Sports on the way home, I'm going to hear callers bitching about ND and saying if Kelly wants to play a good schedule join a conference.

I went to the last ND-ASU game in Tempe, back in 1998. Remember, Gip? I and my friends played golf with Mike. I embarrassed myself, which was par for the course (pun intended), and Mike played well, as Mike does.

ND lead by legendary coach Bob Davie dominated that Arizona State Sun Devils that day!

Where did you stay Sid? The Princess in Scottsdale? The Phoenician? :)

You're way to modest Sid. It was a very enjoyable day on the course because of the company. I recall that Joey Goodspeed ran over the Dirt Devils. It was hot and if I recall correctly there was a power blackout for a good part of the game.
I see where once again the game will be in the early afternoon instead of prime time with cooler evening temps. ASU looking for the weather edge. I went to the game last year at Jerry World. Pretty close game most of the way but the Irish with TR at the helm pulled it out. Our O line has to play better.

I and two college classmates and wives stayed at a rented house in Scottsdale. Nice digs. We met Mike at the golf course (Copper Mountain?, Copper something, as I recall). Mike is correct about the discomfort due to the heat and the power outage.

I once stayed at the Phoenician during a business trip back in the early 80s. I've never forgotten how impressive it was. Thank goodness my employer was picking up the tab.

Doesn't every university have the option to go independent with proper notice to their conference? What business is it of any fan of any university other than Notre Dame whether ND joins a conference or not?

Well ASU jumped us because they beat Stanford more convincingly. I wonder how they would have done in the bitter cold, rain and wind at South Bend rather then the balmy conditions that they played. :)

But I like it. Underdog and disrespected!! :)

    You and me both Rick.

Since we basically lost the brain trust of our defense, I hope we stay aggressive and reduce the amount of reads that our LBs have to make. It may well lead to a shoot out, but I'm not too sure about a freshman MLB making the kind of reads we need without getting his feet stuck in the mud.

    In Rico we trust
