    Great start for the Irish.

    Clausen has patched two nearly flawless games together going back to last season. I think the Irish receivers are as good or better than any other set in the nation currently and they showed it yesterday. The O-Line blocked well but I'll reserve judgement on them. Running game worked well and if we can run for 172 yards a game we will be very difficult to beat.

    Defense was ultra aggressive.... I think they blitzed every play which removes the element of surprise. I think Tenuta will have to tone that down a little because we can get burned big time going to that well too often. I think maybe he was trying to just disrupt that gimmick offense.

    The two most impressive newcomers.... 1. Manti Teo lived up to his hype. Clearly he has talent that no one else there can duplicate. I think he was in three plays and had two tackles and smoked a receiver so violently that I'm surprised the kid wasn't blowing snot bubbles. He has incredible speed and explosiveness. 2. Bobby Burger. A TE transfer from Dayton, his blocking was exceptional in the two TE sets. What a find this guy is!

    We'll learn more next week but this team looks for real.

    Some things to consider
    1. There were no time outs because of personel problems or confusion over what play was being run.
    2. Not one penalty when the line did not come off with the snap. Very rare for the first game of the year.
    3. Big Plays, big plays, big plays. Bombs, Int. and fumble recovery, sacks for big losses, big plays.
    4. No Turnovers
    5. 175 yds. rushing 4.3 yds. per rush.
    Exceptional game against a solid foe.

    UM had a nice win yesterday. I think this is likely to be a very tough game for the Irish.

    8) :lol: I'm sorry, you call that a quality win versus the Nevada poker chips?
    Miami plays FSU, GaTech, Okla, VaTech in the first four games.....thats more than ND has played altogether in the last four years as far as ranked teams.
    Here is to Lou Holtz......ND will play in the BCS championship, against sombedy a wee bit better than Nevads.

    <r>Terry,<br/>
    <br/>
    did you watch any of the um/wm game? I'm watching it this morning on the big 10 network replay and honestly...yeah they look a little better than last year but I think any half way descent team should be able to handle them. WM was just not good at all. No way our D is going to let them do what they did. <br/>
    <br/>
    I know it's at the "big house" and it's a rivalry so anything can happen but ND should be able to pull this off. <E>8)</E></r>

    Just to put it bluntly gonzo, you are full of crap.

    To bad you've never learned the art of being decent to people and having some mutual respect.

    Your act gets very old even when fortunately you aren't around a lot.

    Too bad you just can't post without denigrating somebody elses team Gonzo.

    We'd much rather hear from Hurricane fans like RECcane who can and does post without running down other teams.

    My brother and I were talking during the game that the Nevada QB is so big and strong that some of those sacks he escaped wouldn't have been escaped by lesser (physically) QBs. He's fast and strong, 6'6" 220 not easy to bring down.

    You are a good man Tim and after reading that I edit mine to delete any reference to his team, but my remark to him personally stands.<br/>

    Like I said about the Irish victory yesterday it's a very nice start and I suspect there will be a lot of others this year.</r>

    I never saw Mark May's or Lou's comments on the ND game. May of course had Nevada as his upset pick.

    Hey...........

    <t>Terry I agree with you about us having a tough game this week. Reasons are year number two under a new coach, playing up there and a post I saw on another ND BB board after the Nevada game and thought of as I watched bits and pieces of my DVR replay of the game.<br/>
    If Corwin Brown continues to play the DBS 8-12 yards off receivers and has them backpeddle down the field USC will beat us by 30. I actaully conted 10 -12 yards off Nevada receivers Saturday. ARE YOU KIDDING ME ??? Go ahead and pound me for bringing this up but LORD forbid this continuing vesus better tams that are coming. We have to blitz to get any pressure as the interior guys get little push. Go watch the tape and picture Mich St or even Mich this week.</t>
