O.K. I'm sick of hearing about the "Call" so let's move on to some more positive Irish talk.

I didn't realize it until today but Joe Schmidt has another year of eligibility after this one. I really like this kid a lot. His whole story is like Rudy except this "Rudy" turns out to be one hell of a football player! Gotta admire the kid for everything he went thru to get to ND(and his parents for putting up the cash in the beginning) and his determination to play for ND. Every time I see him on or off the field he has that look like he's living his dream. I wish all the ND players could have his attitude.

Anyway, I'm thankful we have him around for another season. It also means we are putting together one hell of a LB corps. With him, Jaylon Smith, Nyles Morgan, Deeb, Martini, Onowalu, Hill and the LBs commited in the 2015 class already things are looking good.

We also have a lot of DL line back next season also. Things are looking good on the Defense. Put that together with Coach VanGorder and I'm pretty happy.

What are the odds that Golson returns for his final season? That would be real sweet cause we already know we pretty much get the offense back with very few losses. :D

    :D

This is a very young team and Kelly is stacking it deep. Hopefully we can slither around some of the programs that are firing their coaches at the end of the year and flip some of their 5-stars...

and all the kids do their own damned homework!

I didn't know Schmidt had another year?! That's fantastic news.

Rumors going around that DaVaris Daniels has decided to return to ND in the fall of 2015 along with Russell and Williams. It's also felt that Hardy if he can get permission to finish the semester will graduate and transfer to another school for his 5th year. Of course Kendall Moore has graduated and has no eligibilty left so he has moved on, I doubt he'll even be able to catch on as a NFL free agent but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't at least try one time to see if he can get on a practice squad or something before giving it up and getting on with life.

On Joe Schmidt, before the FSU game I posted that if good was rewarded he'd pick off Jameis and have great game and be one of the reasons we win...good over evil. Well he did pick off Jameis and in general had a very good game..but of course in the end evil was rewarded.

Joe is going to be key vs Navy, you need smart players who know their roles vs the Navy option. It's great to have great athleticism but vs the option smarts wins out, I remember the first time FSU played Ga.Tech and Paul Johnsons option Tech killed them, FSU had way more athletes but those guys didn't have the discipline you need and often looked foolish.

Joe is not gifted with great size or speed but he'd a helluva college player and a great story. I hope it continues.

If that turns out to be true then WOW! We may truly be in for a great 2015 season!!!<br/>

I'm thinking the same thing about Schmidt and the Navy game. both he and J. Smith should really play big roles in the navy game. last time we really kicked their butts was when Manti was on the squad.</r>

Daniels is not indispensable and has been easily replaced by several newcomers. Williams has an uneven motor and carries the reputation of not going all out every play. Russell would be a valuable commodity coming back.

I would not pass on any top shelf recruits in favor of either Daniels or Williams.

If you remember Diaco stood outside his family's townhome in Brooklyn at 5AM in the morning to get his verbal. Maybe he should have stayed home. :) Williams has never lived up to the hype, this was going to be the year he showed us all why he was so highly thought of coming out of HS. I don't think he will be passed over for some recruit though, Kelly has already announced that he'll be back. Russell everybody wants back, and Daniels to me seems like a ME player. Coach D I think has said that if Daniels were here this fall he'd be our #1 WR hands down. If he does in fact come back I hope he has been humbled enough by all of this that he brings a TEAM attitude with him.

<t>While I'm not sold on Williams, Daniels and Russell are difference makers at their positions. If nothing else, it adds tremendous depth at both positions.</t>

Daniels carries a lot of baggage with him but none bigger than his old man.

No kidding. Old man needs to worry more about the Tigers than the Irish.

Muffet McGraw signed another top recruit in Arike Ogunbowale a 5'9" PG from Wisconsin. A Catholic school kid and a top 10 national player, she's a 2015 recruit. In the meantime the Ladies were named the overwhelming favorite to win the ACC in basketball.

Also don't forget the Irish Icers face off against Niagra Fri and Sat at the Compton Family Ice Center. Last weekend they took 2 from Lake Superior State.
