Jimmy Clausen will be home in Cali for the holidays. Tough choice, hanging with friends in the Southland or practicing in SB and playing a game the day after Christmas in Detroit. The only problem of course is, if you don't go to Detroit, you're gonna be called arrogant.

I don't agree with that deciscion. A bowl game brings in revenue. You've already decided to take on a 2nd mortgage payment by firing Weis, why not take a bowl game to expand revenue and exposure? I don't get it? Are they (ND) focusing all their time and effort on Charlies replacement? In lieu of a Bowl game, they better.

Are you kidding me?!?!?! Just shows what kind of players are at ND! How do you not want to play another game? If Jimmy is questionable, fake an injury and reward Sharpley....I just don't get this.

What they think they are above Western Mich or Temple?

As sad as it is, I don't have a problem with it. As much as it hurts to say this, given our current state, I don't think it makes sense.

AJ, the bowl we would be going to likely would not bring in enough revenue to offset expenses or at best would break even.

NDfan, I don't think that was the player's choice. I think it was the administration's choice after talking to the coaching staff. Just a guess on my part.

As for ND haters saying we're arrogant, what's new? That's been the knock on us for as long as I can remember, which is a long time.

I wonder if the team vote will be made public?

Not the first time we've turned down bowl invites after a less than successful season. Funny thing is that many 6-6 (like Texas A&M) teams are thrilled and eager to go to a bowl, any bowl. Also I don't believe a conference team who is invited to a bowl could actually turn down that bowl any way.

In the end it's probably the best, even given that it would give them extra practice time. Besides the Little Cesear's Bowl (Detroit) is a Big 10 vs MAC bowl.

I don't think all bowl games are money makers. However all bowl games allow for more practice and exposure.

Huskerman, I think MCG is still a property owner in the Detroit area.

I believe that the decision was made after the AD spoke to the coaches and players (at least the "team leaders.")
Right now the coaches are probably busy trying to line up jobs for next year. It's not like Charlie is going to be a HC somewhere else and take some of them with him.
Quite frankly, practicing with coaches who aren't going to be there next season is not going to be that beneficial. Conference teams have some financial obligation to other conference teams to go to bowls. ND doesn't.

You know I am not sure about that Dave.

Are you wanting to change now or later?

I'll have to consult with the other two Moderators.

    I don't really either Terry.

I just went to the administrative panel and don't see how it could be done. I do know that by going to your profile it's not available for change.

Actually I've become used to Motor City Gator. Sounds good to me.

Don't what to hijack the topic but it can be done but not by the individual member. It has to be a request to the moderators.
