Could it be any tighter than the NL Central. Astros still in last place but have won their last 5 series and are only 4 games out of 1st place. Since we are traditionally a second half team, I still have hope!

    Look out Cards! :)

The Cubs' offense has been pitiful. They simply cannot score runs. Despite this, they are only 2.5 games out of 1st place. IMO, the Brewers' pitchers are going on adrenalin and won't be able to keep their team in 1st place over the long haul. The Cards - under LaRussa, who IMO is the 2nd best manager in baseball behind Torre - have to be considered the favorite at this point. They have capable starting pitching, a decent bullpen.......and Albert. The Reds WILL fade, and the Pirates don't have the muscle to compete. The Stros simply do not have sufficient pitching to put up a long-haul fight. Sorry, Terry.

We're going to outscore everybody Sid! :)

FWIW, I think Roy Oswalt who has been a non-factor in the season so far will get things going pretty soon. That will help a lot and getting Valverde back in the bullpen will also help.

Where is Samarzdja now? what is his role?

I just checked. He is at AAA Iowa where he has a 3-2 record and a 4.05 ERA. They are using him as a SP.
