I will make it official... I will now officially back a NFL team this year. ...and you guessed it. Go Colts! 8)
Welcome aboard the Colts bandwagon Tom. Without Peyton the Colts are a slightly above average team. He is the heart and soul of the franchise. He is a class individual who makes the entire city of Indianapolis better for his presence. He makes the Colts an easy team to like. Can you tell I'm a fan of Peyton?
I'm not so sure about those colts. Losing James will be a big deal, but they still have manning/harrison, so they'll be just fine
I must admit that the main reason is Peyton. However, I was a Johnny Unitas fan as well so this is not new territory for me. I just have never been much of a Pro football fan. College Football, to me is much more exciting. However, My most favorite Vol plays for the Colts so... Go Colts! Peyton still does so much for UT. He is my idea of what Pro Football players should be. I don't care if his team never wins the big one. He will always be #1 to me.
I'm still warming up to the Houston Texans. Maybe the new coach (Gary Kubiak) will do such a great job I'll become a real fan. But truthfully I don't watch all that much Pro Football, maybe Monday night if the game is a good match up. I imagine I'll adopt whoever drafts Brady Quinn next year as a sentimental favorite.
I don't remember the last time I was this unenthusiastic about the upcoming Pro Football season. (probably sometime in the Darryl Rogers era.) As far as the Lions are concerned, I can sum it up this way...."new jockey, same lame horse." Improvement, if we are to believe it, comes from getting rid of the last coach Millen hired and the QB that he drafted. The Lions are a shitty team in a shitty division. I'm looking foward to college FB and maybe, just maybe, the baseball playoffs.
I used to be a huge Colts fan growing up in Jacksonville, Fl. I happened to see them on TV one day and their unis and the play of Johnny U and Lenny Moore grabbed my attention. When I was about 10 years old lo and behold my hero...Johnny Unitas.. up and purchased my local bowling alley (as an investment I guess) and he renamed it Colt Lanes. One afternoon as I arrived to bowl the clerk said.."hey...do you know who Johnny U is....he's right over there at a table signing autographs!" I couldn't believe that it was really him and I was about as elated as a kid could be to be able to ask him some questions and get his autograph. Talk about sheer coincidence and luck.
Peyton takes the field tonight with the Colts vs the Rams. Colts pull an onsides kick to start the game then Peyton's arm leads them to the first TD of the game. Looks to be fun!
