There's an excellent book on Lincoln called A TEAM OF RIVALS. One of the things that struck me was that the NY Times called him a rube and to uneducated to be president. He was perhaps the wisest man who ever served in the White House. It seems that things never change, the NY Times always calls Republican presidents stupid and actors don't like Republican presidents either.

Actors are "limousine" liberals. They live lives of total excess that would make most so-called republican "fat cats" blush. I think they back liberal candidates as a way of assuaging their feelings of guilt and embarassment at their own lifestyles. I've always felt that way.

Remember a year or two ago when Gyneth Paltrow was lecturing all of us commoners not to drive SUVs? Then one of the national papers took a photo of her driveway and it was filled with Benzs, Hummers and assorted SUVs. She never made another peep 8)

An excellent book Gip....I enjoyed it a great deal. An outstanding work and great insight into one of the most tested admins in our history and perhaps our finest leader of any era. If JO'Co were still speaking to us, I know he would enjoy it as well.....but I'm thinking he's already read it and agrees with our assessment.....good stuff.
