The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim are now the Anaheim Ducks. This ends one of the stupidest, California gimmicks of all-time: naming a sports franchise after a children's movie...

Gipper's S&M boys are gone too. The next time you see Serbia & Montenegro, they will simply be called "Serbia."

How is the "Los Angeles" Angels going over? They've been the California Angels, the Anaheim Angels and now L.A. Angels.

Their official name is the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. I'm unaware of anyone who calls them that, except their owner Arte Moreno and I don't think he speaks English anyway. Its like everything else here in SoCal: if it doesn't block traffic, you just ignore it and roll on...

    re: Angels

They were originally the Los Angeles Angels as a PCL team, playing at Wrigley Field in South-Central L.A.

re: Arte Moreno don' speaka da Englais.

    Why JO'Co, you mudslinger.

Arte is a Tucson native, Vietnam veteran, U of A grad, self-made b-b-b-billionaire, and a staunch Republican. His philanthropy focuses on kids and education and he's a very big Wildcat booster (he was rumored to be the majority of the money behind the Mackovic buyout).

Me, I'm willing to look past the Angel name fiasco. :D
