Well it seems the list is a couple of hundred long at this point. Every pundit who has a show has a different opinion. There were even some odds at Las Vegas but it seems to have been taken down. The Las Vegas odds had Bob Stoops and Mike Gundy as co favorites. I have heard Brian Kelly even mentioned. So here's the short list. Bob Stoops Mike Gundy Brian Kelly Chip Kelly Mike Shanahan Hugh Freeze Dan Mullen Gus Malzahn Dabo Sweeney James Franklin Charlie Strong Steve Spurrier Josh McDanial Doc Holliday Larry Fedora Art Briles Gary Peterson Jimbo Fisher Lane Kiffin Bobby Petrino Jim McElwain Rich Rodriguez Dana Holgorsen And the list goes on and on and on. There are a lot of people who think Bob Stoops will be the choice. There a lot of rumors around the Gator Nation that Stoops had agreed to come when Spurrier retired but backed out for a big raise from Oklahoma. Also that he had agreed to come to Florida after Meyer quit the first time but then Meyer backed out. Might want to add Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
Terry, LOL! Is Cabo Swinney Dabo's twin brother? Where does he coach? (Just yanking your chain, Bill. )
Oh I hope it's Lame Kitten. What a hell of a motivational factor that would be every year for Tennessee... and MCG would have to eat a lot of words spoken quite a few years back. 8)
Careful Tom, Gator fans might also use some of your quotes before Kiffin baled out. But no worry, I don't see any way it's Kiffin.
Oh believe me Bill, I have had my helping of crow. But when UT is back on top and the Gators are a little down, I have 126 quotes saved up in a Word file from the past years of living around the mouth known as MCG.
Tom.... you take great offense to just about anything I say about Tenn. All these post-Fulmer years Tenn. has been mediocre at best and I haven't said a damn thing derogatory about the VOLs.... but maybe that silence is what bugs you the most. All I said about Kiffin was that he hadn't proven anything to me as a head coach at the time... especially to be mouthing off like he did. He simply was a reach for Tenn in my opinion. Since then he has been a head coach for three years at USC and coached offense under Nick Saban. He might be learning to be a good head ball coach. And I'm saying three more years under a Saban or even a Spurrier ( as a coach-in-waiting at UF ) and the guy might finally have it together....maybe.
And Saban won't let Kiffin (or any asst. coach) talk to the press. That may be helping Kiffin more than anything. 8)
Can you imagine the trash talking going on if Kiffen was a coach in waiting under Spurrier. Holy cow there would be some pissed off people around the SEC....
