(1) Indiana: Same colors as NU. Chants Go Big Red (Trademark infringement). That's not gonna work, home or away. Then again, we'll probably fill their stadium with 70% of our fans, so it shouldn't make to much difference right? (2) Same color problem with Wisc. Barry Alvarez NU Alum, so we can probably work out a deal. (3) That Purdue Train? Would look better painted red. (4) Iowa: In Omaha without approval....I owe the world a apology....I outa went around....Idiots out wandering around....it'll be good to still have a border war game. (5) Illini......eehhhhhh....can't think of anything....
AJ, What will Husker fans think when they learn they will only receive 2500 tickets to witness games here in Columbus???
Well what are the top corn growing states in the USA? 1. Iowa 2. Illinois 3. Neb 4. Mn 5. Indiana with Wisconsin and Ohio in the top 10. They know corn in the B10, and you aren't even the top corn producer like you were in the B12. That's not a good start!!
Don, I guaran-dam-tee you that it won't matter. They WILL show up and they WILL score thousands of tickets. I've seen it with my own eyes. The only thing is, because both teams wear red, you won't immediately notice the difference in the stadium until you hear the cheers for Nebraska.
Due to all the online ticket sellers, Neb fans will have access to more than their allottment but it will cost them a pretty penny. That situation at ND back in 2000 was kind of a unique deal, and they did pay top dollar for all those tickets that they bought from ND fans. At Texas/Ohio State in Austin there were more OSU fans in the crowd than just the allotment. I don't think Texas fans traveled to Columbus nearly like Neb and Ohio State fans come to Austin, so I don't remember seeing a whole of of Orange and White in the Shoe beyond the allotted seats.
If you have a field, they will come.... OK, so maybe not the best Field of Dreams imitation... But remember, Nebraska fans vacations are planned from September through the first 2 weeks of January. About 6-8 trips, maybe 2-3 days stay at most.
We'll need a name for the Nebraska vs. Iowa game...how about "Farmageddon: The battle for the Golden Corn".
