I think it's been gone over but I don't want to look for it. But why are you so thin in the Jr/Sr classes again. Those classes were ranked 7th and 15th when they signed. What happened to them? thanks...its for an argument on another board!
Here are the "stats" for the 2003-2004 classes: 52 signed - 24 in 2004 and 28 in 2003 3 failed to qualify 9 juco eligibilty expired 4 left early for nfl 5 from 2003 used eligibility 1 kicked off - Marcus Thomas 14 transferred (asked to leave?) 16 left (remain) - 12 from 2004 and 4 (3 oline 1 dline) from 2003 WRT 2005 - UF signed 18 and about half are gone or rumored to be gone. Most transferred, some were asked to leave. Remainder redshirted so they are RSophs in 2007.
About the only thing I have to add is that some of the players didn't buy into the Meyer system or it was taking to long for them to get signficant playing time and they moved on. Along with a lot of JUCO's left a shortage of juniors and seniors. The coming year could be a tough one for the Gators because of the lack of Juniors and Seniors.
Trouble in paradise! Mons Williams, So RB from Texas, was making a run at the #1 tailback spot when he went down for the season with an ACL injury. So, UF has "undersized" So Brandon James, Jr Keshawn Moore, and RFr Chevon Walker competing for the spot. This summer, Chris Rainey will be in Gville to enter the fray. This could be another season of tailback by committee. Maybe even bigger news is Dustin Doe's arrest over the weekend. Apparaently he was involved in a brawl with about 20-25 participants. Great move by a talented young guy who was pegged to start at WLB in 2007.
Well one thing he did smart is he did it in the spring. Urban can suspend him from the team and then if he keeps his nose clean all summer can be reinstated in August. If he did it in August then he'd likely have to miss a game or games.
He's luckier than Selwyn Lymon, the vaunted WR from Purdue via Ft. Wayne, who got stabbed in the chest during a fight at 2:45 AM on a Thursday night last week. He's going to be OK, but I saw a brief on-the-field interview with Tiller, who openly expressed his dismay. He cited the fact that it was a school night and the night before a practice. He also said that it was not the first time he's questioned Lymon's judgement. Oh, by the way, his teammate (can't recall name) was picked up after leaving the scene for DUI.
From the team's persve, these are two areas where experience is thin, especially LBer. I fell terrible for Mons Williams as he was going to have a shot at being the #1. WRT Doe, I just don't know. Maybe I should be proclaiming "boyz will be boyz", "praying for a misdemeanor", and happy "he didn't shoot the President". Guess I'm just too old to "appreciate" why/how these young men get caught up in this stuff. It'll be interesting to see who slides into his place for the remainder of Spring practice. It's not as though Charlie Strong has many options!
Keep in mind he wasn't the one who stabbed anybody, and we don't know that it was another student who stabbed him. This is going to be devastating for Purdue, depending on what details come out of this incident. The kid had monster potential as a WR.
