Yeah, I'm looking past Wyoming, which will probably bite me in the ass. I'm serious, I have absolutely no luck. Last week, I bought a new suit with an extra pair of trousers, and burned a hole in the jacket. I could open a funeral parlor today, and people would stop dying tomorrow. I could get hit by a car at 0900 hours, and somebody would find the fountain of youth at 0901 hours. That's all I got folks.

Anyway, Wisconsin scares the hell outa me. Solid ball team, and the game is at Madison, at night, and could be the Game Day Game. With the problems Nebraska has exhibited with their defense, I have no confidence right now for Nebraska to even keep this game close.

I will however put all 20 confidence points on them because that's the type of fan/believer I am.

The only thing we have going for us right now (as of press time) is that Tim Becks offense is not only more enjoyable than Watson's, but more effective. The Offense line is slowly (but absolutely) coming around, and if it comes down to a shootout, we just may have a chance. If I was to put a spread on this game right now, it would be:

    Nebraska
    Wisconsin -14 1/2

What's the word in Laverne and Shirley land Bobda?

Wisconsin is always very, very physical. They grind away the whole game...

A.J. Right now, the fans in Wisconsin are in complete euphoria but wondering if and when the dream ends. Packers are defending SB champs; the Brewers are getting ready to clinch the NL Central; and the newspapers are touting the Badgers as a potential NC contender as this is the first time they have an elite QB since the early 60's. I do not thnk there has been a time in this state when all of their major sports teams were this good at the same time.

The Badgers fans are usually pretty conservative in their expectations. If they win a BT championship once in a while they are content. They were never a serious NC contender under Alverez but his winning 3 Rose Bowls gained him deity status in this state. The only team who is expected to be a championship conteder by the fans in this state is the Packers.

That being said, the Nebraska game is red lettered on their calender for they look at at the Nebraska game as proof whether they are for real or not this season. The Husker legacy is respected here given that Alverez played under Devaney and talks often about his NU experiences. This is their validation game.

Madison will be nuts that night: night game; 80K or so drunk-out-their-minds-Badger fans. Pretty clear right now that there are only two quality teams in the Biq 10 right now-you and them.

I see that Wisc played N.Illinois in Soldier Field. I can't understand that, I talked to a Wisc fan in the Applebees at Benton Harbor Sat night and he said it wasn't even a sellout. Can't figure why they would move it from Madison.

Applebees in Benton Harbor? Back when I lived there they didn't take kindly to white folk crossing the river. 'Course, that was before there was an Applebees...

I wonder how successful the traveling Husker fans will be getting inside Camp Randall Stadium. Unlike the stark contrast in 2001 between Husker red and ND green/blue, we won't be to tell because either way the stadium will be 100% red.

They didn't ever do all that well in austin probably better than most fan groups though but as you say it will be interesting of course how will you be able to tell the red clad husker fans from the badger fans in red?

TOK, The game was considered a home game for NIU. I think the arrangement Wis with them is similar to the arrangement ND made with NW
in he early 90's- a home game with the away game played at Soldier Field.

Kes, LMAO. I read your note to my Obama-loyalist spouse who first winced when hearing that TOK stayed in BH and then cracked up over your comments. Things have changed in BH since you left but only for the worse. The city is now in receivership and run by the state. There are businesses right off of 94 that cater to the freeway patrons. I think that area is the DMZ zone with heavy police patrols since those businesses are probably the only source of revenue for the city.

Terry, there is a nice hotel/ casino complex near New Buffalo which is about 20 miles from BH. Or, take 131 south into Indiana and stay at the Das Essen Haus or some small inn in Middlebury. Probably too kitchy for your tastes, but if you make a wrong turn in Middlebury, the worst that can happen to you in that you might get cut off by some Mennonite driving a horsebuggy. A wrong left turn in BH and the video map on your rental car will start flashing "here be Dragons'.

Thanks Sid. When I lived in GR, would visit Middlebury and the surrounding area every year during the fall since it is such a unique and interesting area. Just trying to let Terry know that my knowledge of Indiana is not limited to the Butt Hut and other discount cigarette retailers snuggled just across the Michigan border..

    GOD has commanded us...

"In order to stand out amongst the Wisconsin Badgers fans and support the Huskers, Tom Osborne is asking fans that are traveling to the game to celebrate the Blackshirt tradition by wearing black to the game. Similar to Nebraska, the Wisconsin Badgers are fortunate to play to sold out crowds, mostly dressed in red. This makes our trip to Madison a unique and rare situation for our fans and one that calls for a solution. The Huskers love the Sea of Red tradition, but want to be visible to the coaches and players and a national television audience."

Plus....rumor has it that they'll be some uniform alterations for NU....

Thanks guys, I looked and there are a number of hotels in New Buffalo so we'll see if we can get booked in there next year. It's closer to boot!

BTW: AJ tell your boys to be careful with those gloves. If you remember the Mich/Ohio game a few years ago at Columbus the Ohio players wore gloves that when you put them together former a big RED "O" and they got a number of unsportsmanlike calls that day. Sat in the ND/MSU game the ND players had gloves that when put together formed the Leprechaun...yep after a TD our WR (TJ Jones) put those gloves together in celebration and got flagged for unsportsmanlike. B10 refs apparently don't like those types of gloves!

All White with White Helmet, that would be cool. I'm not sure I'd like an all black uniform though. Black Shirts are meant to be worn under the uniform.

    TOK,

New Buffalo is a small, nice Lake Michigan resort town that caters to the Chicago crowd. Several really nice restaurants for its size. Far better choice than BH which essentially is a minature Detroit
