Man this game is huge now with the loss to UM. The good news is that we start the game prep with 2 big time verbal commits to the Irish. The Atkinson brothers, George and Josh gave their verbal to Kelly after the game this weekend. Tim will be pretty fired up about both of the brothers, but esp about George Jr. he supposedly has incredible speed...could have caught Shoelaces from behind if he'd been in the game!!
Never ceases to amaze me when recruits come to a game, we lose, and they rave about the place and want to go and play there. Heaven knows how well we could recruit if we'd win a big game or two.
ND <r>Hang in there Gipper, I'm impatient too and loses like Sat really take the wind out of my sails but those big wins are coming. They'll be that much sweeter when they happen. <br/> <br/> Terry,<br/> <br/> G. Atkinson is a HUGE get!!! Maybe the best of the class so far. This kid will make an impact immediately!! <E></E></r>
I've seen references to Rocket like skills! I read someplace that the Atkinson boys were very close to Dave Casper, so give an assist to the Ghost!
I think this thing with Elston having a virus is a lot more than just a bad cold. Kelly said he's had 72 vials of blood drawn, now that sounds like an awful lot and maybe he was exaggerating (Maybe Stu can comment here). But I've also heard that he's been to the Mayo Clinic. It has to have hurt game prep for UM to have your DL coach not there during the week and esp on gameday for adjustments and coaching points during the game. Kelly said they hope to have him back soon but that in the meantime Denbrock (TE coach) will coach the DL and somebody else will coach the TE's. I'm sure the staff will all pull together and try to make up for missing Elston but I can't imagine that they could cover his loss without losing something. Also I"m sure you guys are reading the same things I'm reading and there seems to be a lot of confusion as to what happened to Dayne and when it happened, etc. I have confidence that our medical staff wouldn't put him back in the game if he was at any risk, but you sure see a lot of posts out there questioning the whole situation.
I loved their father with the Raiders but to compare these two to the Rocket is high praise indeed. We can only hope. If Crist has lingering issues we can focus our attention on 2011
Every time we get somebody who is fast the inevitable comparison to the Rocket pops up, most likely he won't be the next Rocket....but hopefully he'll be an excellent WR or whatever with a lot of speed.
Here is the explanation for Dayne Crist's blurred vision: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5576505&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines
I don't know the answer of course, but there is some feeling that the whole story is not being told by ND/Kelly. Personally on this item I trust ND's medical staff, I don't buy that they would allow him back in the game if he had a concussion just to "save" the game. I know that the misdiagnosis of Clausen's foot problem probably casts some shadows on the staff and some questioned the handling of Floyd's shoulder last year. But on this one I think if they (Kelly/Med Staff) said he did not have a concussion I'm buying it.
Josh Atkinson is being quoted as saying he is solid about his ND verbal and he loved everything about his visit and the school. His brother George is thinking he might take a visit or two and is really sorry he won't get to announce his verbal at that Army All-Star game. He wanted to do that well worn Hat Trick on Nat'l TV I guess.
Here's a good possibility of what Dayne had Ocular Migraine Symptoms People with ocular migraines can have a variety of visual symptoms. Typically you will see a small, enlarging blind spot (scotoma) in your central vision with bright, flickering lights (scintillations) or a shimmering zig-zag line (metamorphopsia) inside the blind spot. The blind spot usually enlarges and may move across your field of vision. This entire migraine phenomenon may end in only a few minutes, but usually lasts as long as about 20-30 minutes. Generally, ocular migraines are considered harmless. Usually they are painless, cause no permanent visual or brain damage and do not require treatment. Still, always consult your eye doctor when you have unusual vision symptoms, because it's possible that you have another condition requiring treatment, such as a detached retina, which should be checked out immediately.
ND <t>I'm hearing some rumblings that Stephon Tuitt may be the latest prospect to commit to ND. If so it's another huge get. Haven't confirmed that yet though.</t>
Eric Hansen Tweeted that it is a done deal. Tuit is a monster get for the Irish. This is our best DL haul in a very long time!!!
ND <r>Well RIVALS is listing Stephon Tuitt as a ND commit as of today. Wow! Kid is #22 on Rivals top 100. Sweet! Bookend for Lynch. <br/> <br/> I think we can safely put the question of whether or not Kelly can recruit nationally to rest. Hell, he's pulling them in from all over Georgia, CA, Florida...yeah, I think he can recruit! <E>8)</E></r>
ND <t>This commit plus the Atkinson twins puts me back in a good mood for the Mich St, game. Just the shot in the arm I needed to get me out of my depression. <br/> <br/> Let's hope the boys go up to E. Lansing and beat the crap out of Sparty!!!</t>
