This is what a hitter looks like. Check out that helmet. Somebody call Earl Scheib!

I hope he has a great year. Somebody had posted recently on one of the message boards (forget which one) that he knew one of the players families (I'm pretty sure it wasn't you Krebs) and that their son was very excited about the whole defensive staff, said they really were being challenged and developed. He expected the defense to be much better this year (couldn't be worse that's for sure, lots of upside!).

On the helmets, people have commented on the gold coming off the helmets easier now days and posters who have been student managers and involved in the ritual painting said that the new plastic that is used on the helmets doesn't allow the paint to adhere as well as the old helmets. They have been tinkering with the formula but haven't come up with the right combination yet.

I've gotta believe that in this day and age of high tech developments, they will find a way to make the paint adhere better. Heck, they now sell paint with the primer already mixed in so that what used to be a two-step process is now one step.

A side effect of the peeling helmet paint is that when opponents learn that there is real gold mixed in, they will be hitting us even harder to try to knock the paint off, then they will be picking up the peeled flakes from the ground.
