The list is widely accepted to include

Steve Orsini- SMU AD, member/captain of 1977 Nat'l Champ Team

Rick Chryst-MAC commish, ND baseball player and honors grad.

Bubba Cunningham, ND grad and has worked as Asst AD before moving on to Ball State and now Tulsa as AD.

Missy Conboy- Current Interim AD, former ND Basketball player.

Jim Lynch-Former ND and NFL HOF, played for Ara on the '66 Nat'l title game a successful businessman who has reportedly turned the job down when Kevin White was hired.

    And a few others.

Point is that there are a number of good choices all of which have connections to Notre Dame.

I feel like we need a very strong person to be the next AD. Kevin White was no doubt a good technican, and a universally well liked guy amongst his peers. I remember when he was hired and there were stories and profiles on him and his tenure at ASU and other places. It was clear to me that he was a nice guy who wanted to give everybody a lot of rope. At the time there was hope that the new AD would call in Davie and fire him on the spot. I even got into an argument with several NDNation high profile typles (ACross for one) that they haven't paid attention to his history if they think he's the cutthroat, slash and burn type of executive that comes in and cleans house. I was right. I think it pained him to fire Davie, pained him to fire Willingham.

There are a lot of crucial negotiations that are comming up with regards to TV, the BCS, etc. Kevin White was not the type to play hardball with his peers, both a virture in terms of popularity but a disadvantage in terms of getting the most for your school. I think ND needs a Roy Kramer type at AD. I don't think any of these guys above are as ruthless as Roy was in promoting the interests of his employer. But hopefully one of those guys or some other candidate will get the job and be a forceful representative of the Irish in these important negotiations. Also it would be nice if Weis starts the road back with a great year this year, to give the new Irish AD some ammo when he goes to the table.

Here's an interesting link about ND Football and it's relationship to the BCS conferences. The most interesting point is that in the renegotiation the Irish essentially gave up the right to recieve conference champions type of money if they get a BCS bid for chump change in the years that they don't go to a bowl. It was a bad deal. The article also has some interesting points about ratings for BCS bowls that have a ND team in the lineup.

Jim Lynch was a tough, MLB who was the captain of the '66 team. I don't know how he was in the business world but I see him as being the opposite of KW.

More than one game, Diane. I'd even put you up for the weekend(s). Imagine the perks for the Skybox NDers! It would be very, very cool. We can dream, can't we?

Yeah he would be my 2nd Choice and since my first choice isn't likely to even consider the job (Jim Lynch), I'd be very happy with Steve. Besides we've already tried one of Sid's Classmates, maybe it's safer to go with Steve! :)
