Of all the new changes the only one I dislike is the replay rule. If they're going to stop the game and use it take as much time as it takes to get the call right. We learned in the OK-Ore game last year that not seeing all the views can change a game.

Philosophically, I agree with you, Gip, but geez, they seem to take a long time on some pretty obvious calls.

I think that if you can't obviously overturn a call after looking at slow motion replays for two minutes, then probably there is no "incontravertable evidence" and the original call should be upheld.

Was the botched call you are referring to an overturned call or an upheld one? I forget.

I think they should let the guys who are announcing the game make the calls, they seem to have it figured out way before the refs do, and I'm not joking either. Maybe they get better views, faster response from their truck. But in many cases they show us all the views several times and they make the right call way before the refs.

If I recall they upheld a call and the replay official said that he never saw the views that showed that the call should be reversed. Why he didn't I'm not sure. As I understood it, the refs were to have access to the broadcast replays.

Have they changed the rule about where the replay official's kids go to school?

Sounds like more of a technology issue to me...if they are going to have the 2 minute rule, they certainly need to be able to show him all the angles in a timely fashion.
