1. Filed under innocent fun.. The Texas Tech fans who faxed menus from the 50 yardline steakhouse to the University of Cincinnati.. basically jamming up and bombing Tubbs on signing day.. just because he's Tubbs and he deserves to be crapped on. http://www.vivathematadors.com/2013...ille-50-yard-line-steakhouse-menu-are-awesome 2. This fake Gmail account for Kevin Sumlin. You have to click the image to enlarge, but the eye for detail is amazing. This is really funny. Seriously, make sure you read the subject lines and the first few sentences of each email. Really well done. And if you miss the Lenay Kekua email, you're obviously not paying close enough attention. Bonus points for noticing the online status updates of the users on the left. http://www.goodbullhunting.com/2013/2/6/3958378/kevin-sumlins-gmail-inbox 3. Alex Collins mother running off with his LOI. The kid lives with his coach. This obviously is not an optimal family situation. I never heard about the kids dad before, until the boy had to get his father to sign the LOI. His mother has gone out and gotten a lawyer to represent 'family interests.' It's rather sad, actually.. which is why it's only #3. I'm still laughing which is why it's still on the list. 4. Ole Miss.. LOL.. I'd say the NCAA will be visiting shortly, but it appears they don't care anymore so whatever. They'll still finish no better than 4th in the West. 5. USC (pretty much all things Trojan related for the whole week) Keep it up guys. 6. Oh yeah, the Irish did all right by themselves but then again we all think that. It will depend how we go from here with them. The Bruins had a stout class, as well.
Yeah Corey it was realistic looking and the emails were funny. I didn't see how many fax's that Tubesteak got but that was pretty funny also. It does look like Collins is going to be at Arkansas.
The Touchdown Club of Columbus, Ohio has named UF recruit Vernon Hargreaves the National H/S Defensive Player of the Year.....and that goes along with his AP Class 8A player of the year award. After watching him play in the Under Armor All-Star game....taking MVP.....I would have to say he is definitely the highlight of Florida's class last Wednesday.
Yeah, that's all they're expected to take Sid...they don't want to many academics getting in the way.
Texas has... The enrollment cutoff numbers are as follows: Conference Cutoff Numbers 2010-2011 & 2011-2012 5A 2065 & up 4A 990 to 2064 3A 430 to 989 2A 200 to 429 1A 199 & below 99.9 & below enrollment cutoff for 6-man football Division I and Division II Break Numbers for 2A, 1A 11-Man and 1A 6-Man Football: 2A 293.5 1A 11-Man 150.5 1A 6-Man 50.5 Classes 1A and 2A are divided in to Division I and Division II for the regular season AND playoffs, while classes 3A, 4A and 5A are combined together during the regular season, then divided in to Division I and Division II for the playoffs.
  Indiana has had 5 classes. Starting next football season, the 32 largest schools will form a 6th class. They also initiated a new rule designed (although denied by the IHSAA) to try to stop the dominace by the Catholic schools. If you accumulate "x" number of points over two years (sectional, regional, semi-state, and state titles), you move up a class. In the first adjustment, the only schools affected are the traditional powers, all of whom are Catholic schools. What a coincidence!
Private Schools have their own league in Texas, with the exception of Strake Jesuit and Dallas Jesuit who were admitted to the public school league. There has always been a fear of Private Schools in Texas, fear that like Ohio and other places the private schools will become dominant in sports.
It doesn't say Florida.... just says 8A by the AP so I wonder if it's a national award: http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20130211/ARTICLES/130219962?tc=cr
Another local Tampa area ( Hargreaves is from this area ) highlight...pretty cool ex-NFL player story: "As Warriors wide receiver Jon Marc Carrier signed with Dartmouth College, a prestigious Ivy League School, his father quietly stood in the background, taking photographs, shooting video and beaming. The father-and-son dream wasn't always as clear. Mark Carrier, an NFL receiver for 12 seasons, including six with the Bucs, was always there for his son. But the son spent much of his football life acting as if he didn't need help. "I was like, 'Whatever, Dad,' almost as if I was pushing him away or I had all the answers,'' the son said. Soon, he realized that his father, who had 569 career receptions for 8,763 yards and 48 touchdowns, was a valuable resource. "I had been telling him, 'Jon Marc, I played this game … I can show you some things,''' said the father, now director of player engagement with the Carolina Panthers, who was a 1989 Pro Bowl selection with the Bucs. "We've been working together pretty closely. I couldn't be more proud, not just because of the football, but because of his work and the person he has become.'' Jon Marc Carrier, with a 5.41 grade-point average, will major in bio-medical engineering at Dartmouth."
Corey, Thanks for that Gmail link. Every one of those entries is hilarious... but I don't expect most folks to get some of them. The Dodd's reply is hilarious...
That is a good story on the Carrier kid. Since he's going to Dartmouth I assume he was never on any Div 1 teams list, so he's probably not going to play pro football, but I'll bet his dad is really proud that an elite academic institution like Dartmouth is where his son will be going to school.
