Auburn will very soon be a force in the SEC and give Saban fits over in the SEC West.

They have already been highly competitive in the last few years.... winning one NC and playing for another.

Now with the addition of Will Muschamp soley on the defensive side of the ball to go with Malzahn's offense and with Muschamp's huge impact on Auburn recruiting my gut feeling is that over the next few years the two top teams in America will be Auburn joining Ohio State.

Hey.... last year I predicted the Buckeyes would upset Bama and beat Oregon for the NC. I could see it coming....and I see this War Eagle onslaught coming.

From an article I read on the subject:

"For all of Muschamp’s failings at UF, fielding a dominant defense was never an issue. The Gators ended the past four regular seasons ranked among the nation’s top-10 defenses.

Auburn finished 2014 ranked 66th and allowed an average of 40.4 points during five losses.

Muschamp's impact has been immediate, with Auburn's defense taking on his personality, Malzahn said.

"They’re flying around like their hair is on fire," he said. "They’re at attention."

    Sorry Kp......

Coach Boom!!! He's good on defense. There are a lot of teams that will continue to be tough in the SEC West. I don't see Alabama falling off, and LSU and A&M should be solid every year. Dan Mullen staying at Ole Miss and the Hugh Freeze amazing technicolor recruting machine and then have the Hogs finally started to be the Wisconsin of the SEC? Anyway will continue to be the toughest division in college. As a result it will be hard for any one team to dominate.

I would however give coach Gus the edge over Lane Kiffin as an offensive mind and even though Muschamp is one of the best, that combo of Saban and Smart at Alabama is going to continue to be very tough.

The SEC West is shaping up to be the perfect storm of college football.

But Ohio State would compete very well with that bunch.... that's how good the Buckeyes are.

Don't see anyone in the Big Ten threatening Urban's team until Michigan becomes fully enveloped by the "Harbaugh effect".

Quote from Gus Malzahn at SEC Media days:

"Defensively, we hired Will Muschamp, who in my opinion is the best defensive mind in all of football, not just college. The defensive players have taken on his personality. Overall, I really like this team. I would put this (coaching) staff against any in college football. Our future is bright at Auburn.”

I hate these assholes and I am glad UF doesn't play them annually anymore.

    Good riddance.

    So true Kp!

Our biggest problem at the moment is who starts at QB! Personally I could care less. We can win with any of the 3 QBS we have.

    GO Bucks!

    Don,
I have the same question for Alabama qb's, but none our candidates have ever started so I just don't know. Our defense will need to be ready for prime time in the first game.

Well the top OL in the Nation, OT Greg Little, just dumped on Texas A&M and supposedly loves your Tide kp....so who ever plays QB will have his backside protected very well if he goes with Alabama.

Of course he's also looking at Ohio State, and Auburn of course.

I would love to be a talented recruit at the moment, but I guess being almost 80 years old, might be somewhat of a deterent?

It was fun watching Spurrier clips from SEC Media Day, he's one of the most entertaining coaches out there...he could help but take a shot at Tenn for doing back flips over 7-6 though. :) Butch Jones who followed shot back that it wasn't true.

But kudo's to Josh Dobbs the Vol QB who is actually a real student athlete with a real major and a real goal in life beyond football. He's an Aerospace Engineering Major and has done an internship with Pratt and Whitney.

Saban would like to see the NFL move the declaration date back, he said he felt like players trying to get NFL grades and make decisions caused team chemistry problems between the SEC Champ game and Playoffs.

Spurrier continues to be entertaining. Not as much fire as in his earlier days but still Spurrier.

It kind of pains me that he has now been at S. Carolina longer than at Florida.

However he will always be a Gator.
