Well in today's Houston Chronicle he claims that the suspension was for "nonsteriodal" banned drug. whooooooooooooo OK now your good with me! Cheater, but not a "steriod" cheater. Too much caffeine? :roll: Didn't do it!
Now the AP is going to revote on his Defensive Rookie of the Year award. I listened to Texan beat writer, John Mclain, on the issue this AM. He said that Julius Peppers, Kevin Williams and Shawn Merriman all tested positive and were still AP rookies of the year. He said that the difference was that the voters knew those guys had tested positive and still voted for them, while they didn't know about Cushing. He said he is still going to vote for Cushing because he tested positive in Sept and then passed all subsequent tests, so he played most of the season free from the drugs and that's good enough for him. Said he saw how hard he worked in practice, how hard he played on the field and didn't think that steroids were a factor since he got caught so early. He also said that a lot of the voters will probably forget they voted for Peppers and those other guys and suddenly decide they can't vote for some body who tested positive and not vote for Cushing.
