I think this guy owns the "Tastes Great/ Less Filling Landscaping Company." http://www.ksdk.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=96455
Interestingly, my son scraped up what was left of a guy who was riding his John Deere lawnmower down a dark country road here in NJ last Saturday night. The guy was drunk and went for a ride on a busy rural road.
This dude even made the local news in Houston! Wasn't it Willie Nelson who got arested for DUI when he had pulled over to sleep off some Jack Daniels?
What a fool....if he had been using the thing to do Script Ohio, no doubt he would have gotten off with no worse than a warning. Some folks never learn. Terry
Buckeye T: You don't know where I cana get my hands on a .wmv file or such of Script Ohio, do you? To me that is the #1 spectacle in college football.
I may be biased, but I've never seen its equal on any sporting field....great stuff. Here you go: http://tbdbitl.osu.edu/media/video/becomescripthigh.mpg enjoy. Terry
Thanks, Terry! You made my day. I've been fortunate enough to attend a season opener in the past when the alumni band does the Script along with the regular band. Two for the price of one...800 musicians working in sync and 105,000 pairs of moist eyes watching. That's what college football is all about!
I know....a real shocker, huh! Krebsie, the TBDBITL alumni band tradition has grown to the point that they now have 4! scripts simultaneously - it's a great thing. If not mistaken, perhaps our buddy Stu has taken part? Stu, did I get that right? Terry
They let Purdue Band Members participate? I figured maybe they'd beat them up under the stands but not let them on the field while the Script Ohio was being done. Although having seen Stu up close and personal doing the Village People thing with O-H-I-O, he's one of the best I've ever seen at that routine!! Terry
Hmmmm, so I got that bass-ackwards. I knew it was one of those....What else is new....hell, I'd forget what I had for lunch if I didn't write it down. Sorry Stu! Two questions: How big is that damn drum anyway AND what does the Golden Girl wear under her outfit? Terry
Those who wonder who taught the folks from Ohio how to spell Ohio in script, the answer: the more developed and sophisticated culture located north of Toledo! http://mmb.music.umich.edu/history/falcone.asp
Sorry, I've been out of town and am just catching up. Terry, I'm not sure what is under the Golden Girl's outfit, but...damn!...I'm sure it's good. As far as the Big Bass Drum...it's vital statistics are kept kinda secret, especially since there is a pretedner to the throne...originally at the Univ. of Chicago but then sold to, ahem, the University of Texas. The folklore states that our drum is bigger because theirs is thinner...you go by total volume (some kind of, uh, geometry calculation that is surely beyond either myself or TOK.) See the below link Big Bass Drum stu
Oh, and Bobda is absolutely correct...the Script Ohio was originally done by the UM band...it was adopted by TBDBITL in honor of the Michigan Band spelling a four letter word properly for the first time. stu
Well done Stu...there is surely a place for the noble efforts of the TUN band....after all, everyone remembers the vast contributions of Fred Astaire's choreographer.... Terry
BDR, well done...damn you're good! Hell, with a name like that, no wonder Fred achieved fame and fortune.... Terry
The knowledge that can be gleaned from the board is astounding, Terry. For example, some time ago I got a tip on a jazz CD that's been a semi-regular in the weekend jazz rotation for months now. You gotta love it.
