USF Coach is accused of punching a walkon player at halftime of a game last month. If true, I wonder what USF will do? I mean the guy has been with the program since it's inception. USF Player Abuse Odd connection.. both Leavitt and Mangino were assistants together back at KState.
Well while it's just my opinion but from reading that article it seems to me that the kid wants to continue to play and once he got an apology that the family decided the only way the kid could continue to play was to just accept the apology and drop the matter and support the coach. Now maybe Leavitt is truly sorry, maybe he has never done this before and maybe he is as appalled as anyone that he did it. With Mangino once the story surfaced players who were no longer there were comming out of the woodworks and confirming his abusive behavior. At this point, most likely it's going to be swept under the rug and everybody will move on. I wouldn't be surprised if the AD told him that if anything like this happens again, just to pack up his office and leave.
You may well be right Terry. However what we know for sure at this point is that neither the player or the father want's to make an issue of it. I think also with the father saying how long he has known Leavitt and how much he thinks of him that this will die.
Sounds like a grabbed shoulder pad and possible extra unintentional contact. How about some of these kids not be pussies? I mean, I understand this is the 'everybody gets a trophy' generation and they aren't use to some of the older guys.... but good lord....sack up.
Sounds like it is tempest in a teapot...denied by all concerned... I'll accept that, and hope it is so.
