Last week my son graduated college from UF and those who have met me can attest that with his genetics hampered from the paternal side this was a big deal. All I can say is there are those moments in life where the world could be crumbling down around you and could care less as this was for me a bright shining moment to watch him fulfill his goals. He officially has a bachelors in Horticulture Science and with only 1.5% of the population involved in feeding the other 98.5% of us the sky is the limit. He has his first job interview on Thursday and they called me inquiring about his contact information which was humbling as LOL I was not in the equation. The experience at the University of Florida has been incredible, not always easy on the communication end to mom and dad but most of that falls to offspring not communicating. Yeah I'm a proud Daddy.... And thank you Sid and Dave for the comments on the earlier topic, glad this is over as we dust off the savings account and put money into it for the first time in many years...
Congrats!! Here is a poor quality image of my son (Chris...AKA Boondock Muskies) on Dec. 10. I couldn't attend because of my knee surgery recovery but my wife attended.
Congratulations Stu, I don't care what the age it's always special and a good thing. What did he major in???
Thanks Ralph. He got a degree in Music Business from MTSU a few years ago. (Like 2004.) Been working ever since. First at Sony Music in Nashville. Then left there stealing the CEOs secretary and marrying her. Now a project manager for a company that does hospitals and schools. Nursing stations and cabinets. Decided to go to night law school at Nashville School of Law while working full time. Now has to take the bar in Feb. He may just stay in the business he's in cuz the company is pretty happy with him. Started out as an intern project mgr and now they are talking a vice presidency. So the law degree may just be another tool in the tool box.
WOW!! Yeah I would say that is something to be proud of as a Father and Mother and doing it while being full time employed is remarkable. Stealing the CEO's secretary and marrying her has to be icing on the cake, congratulations.
Ralph, God bless your son for dealing with his affliction as he powers through a demanding curriculum to get his degree. I'm pretty sure we all know where he got the toughness necessary to accomplish all he has. Stu, great story about your son. I always have admired young people who work extra hard to better themselves through education while fulfilling real world responsibilities. I have two kids who have taken a somewhat similar path through further education and are doing very well in fields unrelated to their college degrees. I'm as proud of them as I'm sure you are of your son.
Ralph, it's a good thing your good looking kid gets his looks from his mother. We'll assume that he got his smarts from both sides.
CONGRATS TO BOTH KIDS!! Here's what I learned from my 4 year degree: (1) Square root of 49 is 7 (2) I agree with Erikson's theory of hierarchy (3) Pavlov's dog was hungry.
