Nasty collision at home plate last night. Credit to Molina for even finishing the inning, but he's really banged up. Go to the Cards home site for the video.....

I don't know, man... Part of the game and all that, but geez. That hit would be totally illegal, I think, in the NFL and result in suspension and a big fine.
Brutal collision. But he's an experienced catcher shouldn't he have protected himself better? I do object to the runner going for his head, not saying it was intentional but...
wanna hear the opinion of a baseball man? well, you're going to get it anyway. You can't fault Molina because he was making a play on the ball AND HE GAVE A CLEAR LINE TO THE PLATE TO THE RUNNER.. look at that replay.. he's gotta hook slide or a head first with a reach easy... That being said. It's a part of the game. You know what else is a part of the game? The next time, Harrison takes one right in the ear. When he gets up, if he gets up, he says not a god damned thing as he walks the straightest line he's ever walked (or since his last DUI test) down to first base...If he says anything, you remind him that the you figured since he was so good at getting that elbow up to cheap shot your teammate in the head, that he would have been just as good at using it to defend his own ear. Then, I'd suggest saying something personal..perhaps even vulgar... most likely involving his mother. (wives just don't mean as much as they use to and kids are always off limits)... Additionally, the next time he comes up (and this is always a good role for a young relief pitcher or newly signed player looking to show he's a member of the team) he gets one 3 feet behind his head all the way to the back stop. The umpire will warn or eject you, but the important thing is that he just puts his head down and acts accordingly.. If he does anything other than that, see the previous step. Rinse and repeat.
