The local press and national media for that matter, are touting a great matchup between the Buckeyes and Wolverines for this Saturday. ESPN will be in Columbus for their Game Day festivities. For some reason, I really am not looking forward to this game as in past years. Maybe if both teams were undefeated, I would respond differently. Even if we beat Michigan, I think we have an excellent chance of being left out of the playoffs. I guess in retrospect, I have answered my own question!
The GAME this weekend. Almost like the 2006 game. I like the Buckeyes because they have the better QB and are at home. Both teams seem to have very good defenses. But Mich situation at QB is a big factor. It will certainly be interesting to see what the committee does if Ohio State wins and sits at 11-1 while who ever wins the B1G will sit at 11-2. How much does the committee value that conference championship? You could certainly make the case that Ohio State was the best team in the conference as they will have defeated Wisc should the Badgers win, and the loss to Penn State was on the road by a special teams mishap, I think the Buckeyes would beat them at Columbus and a Neutral site and were the better team. Sometimes the better team doesn't win, that's what's called an upset.
I saw the end of the 2006 game on a classic replay this morning and Ohio State was firmly in control of that game in the last few minutes. Yes Michigan scored late and tried an onside kick but OSU had driven on a long drive before that to go up 42-31. Can't see what all the clamoring was by Michigan fans crying for a rematch. They had their opportunity.... and they lost. Game over.....
Don, if you win on Saturday, you will have beaten the #3, #5, #7, and #17 ranked teams and be one of the few one loss teams in the country. So even if PSU wins and OSU misses out on the BT championship game, your resume is too strong to be left out of the final four.
Hello fellas, it's that time! Stopping by to pay my respects to my dear freind Bobda..... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/UwGXMryTbwE" frameborder="0"></iframe>
Just wouldn't be official without the boys preaching the gospel and delivering that fine testimonial to our friends up north.....
Whichever team wins and if they then win the Big 10 Championship game will be in the playoffs. No doubt about it. With the Michigan QB out Ohio State is in a much better position.
The dilemma arises if both OSU and Penn State win.... then OSU could not play for the conference title.
That's it in a nutshell Dave! However, it does look like we can be pretty sure of a playoff berth with our strength of schedule, without the conference title.
Stu, These games for the most part are unpredictable! I look for a close game tomorrow, maybe a 3-7 point difference by games end.
