A picture of Woody Hayes in his home and a pic of Earle Bruce in his office?

I knew he was from Ohio but I was unaware of his OSU ties and his obvious sentiment for the Buckeyes. Meyer joins his players then as one who may benefit from all the national dissing.

    MCG,

make no mistake, Meyer may be presently employed by the University of Florida, but he was born, bred, educated and experienced a Buckeye.....there are few, if any, football people raised in Ohio during Meyer's generation that don't have a picture of Woody Hayes in their office.

This is no doubt the biggest game that he will ever coach....that's a good thing. We've won 19 in a row....we've been #1 since day one....we're Ohio State, we've been getting everybodys best shot after having been dissed for every game all season and for generations...everybody has that on us and they always have.......if that is all you got, then you ain't got enough. That just makes you even with all the others.....you need to bring something else that the others have not had.....bring it. 8)

When I was freshmen at Carroll HS in Dayton, Ohio in 1969, Woody paid us a recruiting visit to check out two of our senior players. You would have thought God or Elvis was coming.

On WFAN sports talk radio out of NYC the other day Mike Francesa went on and on about Script Ohio being the #1 tradition in college football. I couldn't agree more with that.

My Ohio roots, like Urban Meyer's, always simmer just below the surface. Perhaps Urban will coach the Bucks one day?

Interesting article in the Columbus Dispatch today about Earl Bruce, former head coach, who is now 75 yrs old.

He was expressing his complete confidence in two former assistants, Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer.

He was very complimentary about both coaches, not only as coaches, but as role models and trying to do things the right way.

However, he did say he is a Buckeye and will always be a Buckeye!

Thats just the way things are in Columbus.

And there's a saying at the University of Florida

"Once a Gator, Always a Gator"

And Meyer is now a Gator!

Where he's going to stay a long time.
