the Ducks get hammered. The Beavers are getting stuffed. It's a bad week to be a dirty lumberjack hippy.

    That right there... is FUNNY!

I didn't see the Oregon collapse coming. Quite a change from saying you'd drop 40 on Stanford easy.

Does this make the Civil War more or less interesting?

There are many PAC guys secretly tickled that the Ducks were destroyed by the Cats last night. (Where's Rick when you need him???) There are even more that aren't so successfully keeping it a secret.

I see that the puppies dumped Keith Price for Cyler Miles last night, watched a little of the game, Miles looked good. Should be an interesting game for the Apple Cup. It's at Washington, but maybe you can pull it off.

The Pac12 is just different. We're good with that. While we all personally get along just fine, the nature of the Rose Bowl culture that we were all raised with gives us that deep sense of personal satisfaction when one of our conference mates gets destroyed. We will never be the SEC. I'm not speaking from a quality football standpoint. I'm talking about that brotherhood at the end of the day. I think there's just cultural differences about the areas that are intrinsic to each that must be understood and/or accepted before you can begin to understand how each operates on a daily basis.

That being said, each season is a story yet to be told that unfolds before our eyes. One of the character developments that we've discovered about Oregon is that they are incredibly talented, but they lack true senior leadership and heart. I know people are blaming the coach up there, but I blame the previous coach. Chip was famous for bringing in a lot of 'me' guys with big mouths. It always found a way to show over the course of a season. At the same time, there's always a chance that they'll show up and drop 70 on you in the blink of an eye. They thought they had this won. They thought it would be handed to them. They ran their mouths all week about how little the Rose Bowl mattered to them. They walked right into Arizona on Senior Day and say what you want about the job DickRod did at Michigan (or lack of a job), but he seems to be embracing the Arizona thing quite well. He's changed his recruiting focus from Texas back to SoCal and he's doing his best to return Zona into one of those death trap road games for people. I've seen UCLA do what Oregon did at Arizona so many times, I've lost count. I'll be interested to see if Zona can maintain that. I'll be interested to see if Oregon can rebound. We probably won't know until the bowl game.

The Apple Cup should be a blast. The Civil War is rarely boring. That's dirty hippy hipster vs dirty hippy lumberjack. They don't like each other at all. Hate week is upon us, and it should be fun.
