Have you ever seen that commercial with Ernie Els when he's doing a math problem on the board for a class of kids? Either has my kid. Lebanon, MO. The 2nd place woes for Taylor "CornDog" Martin continue on the LOJGA tour. However, 2+2 = Par, not triple bogey. Martin finished his round at Lebanon Country Club knowing he'd had shot a 44, good enough to secure another 2nd place finish to 3rd time winner Jeffery Chilpins, or was it? Martin ass-u-me-d that his group member had correctly recorded his 6 on the final hole, and signed his card for a 44. Problem is, an 8 was recorded. 46 would be the official score. Martin was forced to take the score he had signed for and ended up in a chip off to decide 2nd place for the tournament. The other kid went first from 40 feet away, and made a great effort getting the ball to 5 feet of the hole. Martin, who had chipping problems all day, put his shot 14 inches from the hole to clinch 2nd place once again. After making the chip, Martin was seen winking at his dad as if to say, "No problem dad, had it in the bag the whole time". Smartass....
Hey it's a good lesson for him and in the end it didn't cost him. Just think if it had cost him a win. BTW, who's this Chilpin kid anyway, a ringer? Probably is really 14 make them produce his birth certificate!
