If you remember a few weeks ago Marcus Thomas was cleared to play again for the Gators after failing two drug tests. The reason for the reduction had a lot to do with the length of time between the two tests and could the first offense have been responsible for both tests. Before the Vandy game Sat Marcus was removed permanently from the team. Not for failure of a third drug test but because he didn't follow the rules laid down for him by the coaching staff. I'll see if I can find that link and post below. However here is an open letter from Marcus to Gator fans. I think even though he still defends himself as far as the drug usage he apologizes to Gator fans for letting them down. Marcus Thomas Letter
Who's Scoop? I hope the Texans pass on him though if he's available, inspite of his plea that he's really a good guy, I'm not sure I'd trust him.
Man how times have changed if what he says is true and that a few hits on a joint at a college party ultimately get him thrown off the team. I'll bet that in the 70s half the players would have been dismissed from most teams around the country if these same stringent rules were in effect.
Terry, personally I don't think you would have a thing to worry about with Thomas's attitude. I've watched him and read about him for four years and he's never been a problem before this year. Now physically he had a back operation and I don't know how that would affect his pro career. If the Dolphins draft him I would be happy. MCG, I think you are right, but I would consider it a change in a good direction.
Bill, It may be a positive change but like most directional changes it could go a little too far. News reports and general publicity on Thomas make him out to be a thuggish bad guy who is a drug addict whereas he sounds like a typical college kid to me who made one bad decision followed by some lack of personal discipline that Meyer could not live with.
