Apparently he's under investigation for assualting a player, the odd thing is that I know the player an his family (professionally).
    Mangino

Certainly looks bad for Mangino and on the eve of a big game with Texas not something you'd want to happen.

Obviously without knowing the specifics I would say this, it is a different age than when most of us grew up and played competitive athletics.....I would bet that given the "politically correct" age we live in, every single coach I ever had at any level - through high school for me - spoke to us all, in a manner that would today be considered "inappropriate". Like I said, I don't know the specifics but I think we've raised a generation of "weenies"....just my opinion.

One of my favorites I remember to this day.....I was a shortstop in Jr High and had just let one through the wickets....."God D@mn it, Spencer, if you don't get your butt down to the ball, I'm going to kick your a$$ so hard it'll end up between your shoulder blades and you'll have to unbuckle your pants to talk......."a classic and I to this day have more respect for that man and what he did for me than few men outside of my father..... a different age.

I agree BT, but what would have happened if he actually kicked your a$$ between your shoulder blades. That might have been uncomfortable for you and trouble for him.

Just kidding of course, I agree with you.

Put a finger on his chest? What's the big deal?

Let me get this straight, a football coach grabbed a player put his finger in his chest and actually yelled at him?......And.....WTF. And "that was the key incident among others raised by players and parents."
    That's pathetic.
And that's why your in last place in the Big 12 North.

Poking a finger in his chest and yelled at him......I think those kids need a good dose of old school ball coaches to get 'em squared away. Can you imagine Woody, the Bear, Bo, Lou, et al with those kids.......

I happened across this article today which gets more specific. IMO it looks like a mixed bag of Mangino going over the line and some players being just plain too soft.

He's a chubbier and meaner version of Bobby Knight.

    Here is an example:
