Trump's medical plans could absolutely put me and the bubbas in a world of hurt while he is making things so great for..... great for.... hmmmmm.... America? "If President-elect Trump follows through on his campaign promises, millions of individuals;immigrants, religious minorities, people of color face a very grim four years. One of the worst hit groups will be Americans with significant health costs. The Trump transition team published a brief summary of the incoming president’s health plan on its website, and the news is not good for the elderly, the poor, and millions of Americans with preexisting conditions. Much of the plan is vague. Trump plans to “Modernize Medicare,” for example, an unclear statement that is likely code for Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) plan to repeal Medicare and replace it with a voucher system that imposes much higher out-of-pocket costs on seniors. Similarly, Trump says he will “Maximize flexibility for States in administering Medicaid,” a statement that is probably code for Ryan’s plan to either “require states to provide less extensive coverage, or to pay a larger share of the program’s total costs, than would be the case under current law.
The Democrats can now start to plan on how to repeal TrumpCare. People will be dying in the streets in 2017 because of TrumpCare.
Completely repeal Obamacare. Our elected representatives must eliminate the individual mandate. No person should be required to buy insurance unless he or she wants to. Modify existing law that inhibits the sale of health insurance across state lines. As long as the plan purchased complies with state requirements, any vendor ought to be able to offer insurance in any state. By allowing full competition in this market, insurance costs will go down and consumer satisfaction will go up. Allow individuals to fully deduct health insurance premium payments from their tax returns under the current tax system. Businesses are allowed to take these deductions so why wouldn’t Congress allow individuals the same exemptions? As we allow the free market to provide insurance coverage opportunities to companies and individuals, we must also make sure that no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance. We must review basic options for Medicaid and work with states to ensure that those who want healthcare coverage can have it. Allow individuals to use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Contributions into HSAs should be tax-free and should be allowed to accumulate. These accounts would become part of the estate of the individual and could be passed on to heirs without fear of any death penalty. These plans should be particularly attractive to young people who are healthy and can afford high-deductible insurance plans. These funds can be used by any member of a family without penalty. The flexibility and security provided by HSAs will be of great benefit to all who participate. Require price transparency from all healthcare providers, especially doctors and healthcare organizations like clinics and hospitals. Individuals should be able to shop to find the best prices for procedures, exams or any other medical-related procedure. Block-grant Medicaid to the states. Nearly every state already offers benefits beyond what is required in the current Medicaid structure. The state governments know their people best and can manage the administration of Medicaid far better without federal overhead. States will have the incentives to seek out and eliminate fraud, waste and abuse to preserve our precious resources. Remove barriers to entry into free markets for drug providers that offer safe, reliable and cheaper products. Congress will need the courage to step away from the special interests and do what is right for America. Though the pharmaceutical industry is in the private sector, drug companies provide a public service. Allowing consumers access to imported, safe and dependable drugs from overseas will bring more options to consumers. https://trumpcare.org/?SRC=tc_google [/img]
There are some good ideas in there if he has any follow through and doesn't just have repealing the ACA as his main and only achievement. Anything though that limits care on pre-existing conditions and medicare definitely hurts the senior population.... of which I am one...
I'm optimistic that pre-existing is a given at this point, it was important to me that's for sure. My son requires injections every two weeks to walk from his arthritis. The pre-existing and upto 26 year old on mom and dad's insurance will be part of the future plan...
I always thought that pre-existing condition coverage should be mandatory...as long as it isn't for freeloaders who skip insurance for all of their lives until they get middle aged and sick and then jump on the bandwagon. Not talking about those who have had no insurance through no fault of their own. But either health insurance needs to be mandatory for the young and healthy or else there has to be a screening mechanism for those who choose to freeload all their lives until they get sick. The math does not work otherwise.
These f*ckers in Congress for which healthcare expense is not a life concern just kill me: Much of the plan is vague. Yeah.... let's just raise healthcare out of pocket expenses to be much higher on seniors.
Alright let's discuss Obamacare. First it was sold to the American people by intentional lies. Despite Obama saying over and over "if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor" and " if you like your plan you can keep your plan" millions of Americans lost both. ( As Johnathan Gruber admitted "we relied on the stupidity of the American voter.") And let's not forget the other lie that the ACA (A standing for assinine) would REDUCE health care premiums by $2,500! Then we found out that although the CBO ruled it to be "budget neutral" they were given figures containing 10 years of premiums for 6 years of benefits. (WTF neutral?) Then we had the launch and the website sank like a stone. The estimates of young, healthy people signing up were way overestimated. We found out that certain treatments were not going to be available to the elderly (the "death panel" critics were right. Despite the government paying them large subsidies the large insurance companies began pulling out of states and the premiums charged by those remains soared.Obamacare was imploding on its own poorly conceived creation. Sure those getting subsidized were liking it but more Americans who made too much for subsidies but not enough to afford the ever increasing premiums were really being abused by this boondoggle. Perhaps if the Republicans were given an opportunity to have input on the legislation it might not have been such a disaster bu as we all heard from the Wicked Witch of the West " we have to pass the bill before we can read it." With the Baby Boomers retiring and becoming Medicare and Social Security consumers rather than supporters, both systems face projected insolvency since the gutless in DC have time and again refused to adopt committee recommendations. The can is nearing the end of the road and the pyramid schemes have got to be rehabilitated. You have to have your head pretty far up your ass if you think these kids living in their parents basement and living off their parents healthcare are going to be able to support their elders on SS and Medicar. But perhaps the fairy who was going to help folks keep their doctor, healthcare plan and reduce premiums by 2,500 can keep Social Security and Medicare going as usual.
