After the Texas win at Okie State last weekend it was a bad scene, it's getting worse all over the country.

You know Terry it's terrible when you can't go to a sporting event like College Football with out fearing for your safety.

And you are right it can happen anywhere.

Bill it's one reason why you will enjoy your eventual trip to Notre Dame Stadium. It's not a pit or a place that opposing fans fear because of the atmosphere. It's a great place to tailgate, and watch the game and not worry about boorish fan behavior....unless you are Tod of course.

You know I was afraid of something bad happening at the Alabama/LSU game, but as far as I know everything went well. I know they checked all of the bags for alcohol coming in but not very thoroughly.

Well, hells bells .... what should one expect when we have head coaches instructing their teams to rush onto the field to celebrate a touchdown and taunt the opposing team and their fans??!!! When that school's fans see this stupidity on the field, sanctioned by a university's football coaching staff, they believe such behavior is now acceptable. Then ... when there is no punishment levied on the coach, they realize such behavior is condoned by the university and athletic conference, and choose to engage in similar moronity.

Until schools and coonferences control activities by coaches, players, and fans both on the football field and on the basketball courts ....... this will only get worse.

    umm

<t>there was a point in time when the same could have been said about coaches intentionally running up the score and advising their kids to enjoy their TD celebrations....<br/>
    <br/>
you dont want to cross this bridge</t>

LOL, you mean like Kansas vs Nebraska, Tennessee vs LA-Lafayette, Arkansas vs FIU, KSU vs Baylor, Toledo vs NIU, Hawaii vs NMex St, Clemson vs CentMich, USF vs UCF, OSU vs KentSt, Texas vs Iowa St, Kansas vs Baylor, Oregon vs Wazzou, West Virgina vs Syracuse, Missouri vs Nebraska, Boise St vs NMexSt, Ball St vs Buffalo, Georgia vs Ole Miss, Kentucky vs FAU, UCLA vs Oregon St, TexTech vs Northwestern St, Arkansas vs NorthTex, ArizSt vs Stanford, Oklahoma vs Tulsa, West Virginia vs ECU, Ohio St vs Northwestern, WMich vs CenConnSt, Texas vs Rice, Kansas vs FIU, Auburn vs NewMexSt, NewMex vs Sacramento St, Cincinnati vs Marshall, USC vs Wazzou, UTEP vs TexSouthern, Oregon vs Stanford, Hawaii vs Charleston Southern, Cincinnati vs MiamiOH, TexTech vs Rice, Rutgers vs NorfolkSt, Oklahoma vs UtahSt, Florida vs Tennessee, Oregon St vs Idaho St, Oregon vs Fresno St, TexA&M vs LA-Monroe, Kansas St vs Missouri St, LSU vs MidTennSt, Nevada vs Nichols St, Hawaii vs UNLV, Stanford vs SanJoseSt, Purdue vs EastIll, Oklahoma vs da U, Buffalo vs Temple, GaTech vs Samford, WestKentucky vs WestVaTech, Kentucky vs KentSt, Kansas vs SELA, Wazzou vs SanDiegoSt, Oklahoma St vs FAU, LSU vs VaTech, Cincinnati vs SEMissouri, Louisville vs Murray St, LSU vs MissSt, Boise St vs Weber St, Washington vs Syracuse, Penn St vs FIU, OSU vs Youngstown St, Mich St vs UAB, Florida vs Western Kentucky, UConn vs Duke, West Virgina vs WestMich, UCLA vs Stanford, Nebraska vs Nevada, Kentucky vs EastKentucky, Oklahoma vs NorthTexSt, Kansas vs CentNich, Alabama vs WestCarolina, Indiana vs Indiana St, ArizSt vs SanJoseSt, Hawaii vs NorthColorado, TexTech vs SMU .... etc, etc, etc

Well .... it is within the rules of college football for the offensive .... and the defensive ....... units of one team to score as often and as much as possible on its opponent. And, to the best of my recollection, no team has ever been penalized for scoring too many points in a 4 quarter game.

Thank goodness that none to the coaches RUTSing were also sending their entire teams onto the field to celebrate all of that unnecessary, perhaps unwarranted, scoring.

To me, running up the score is a non-issue. It isn't an issue when it happens to us and it is not when we do it to another program. I said, when it happened to us, that it is our job to stop the opposition's offense. If we can't, the score goes higher. It's part of the game.

To me, the ultimate insult would be for a coach to make it obvious that he is calling off the dogs. I believe that the second team should get a chance to play and to have the full play book at their disposal. If a coach starts taking a knee with 6 minutes left, that's like him saying: "Poor babies can't take any more punishment."

We may not be winning as much as I'd like, and things ain't perfect, but I guaranty none of you will encounter anything like that if you come down for a visit!

Hah, miami launches a preemptive strike in hopes of avoiding a problem with unruly fans. Good luck:

This has nothing to do with the topic, but more to do with answering Gaterz...

More and more I'm thinking the Richt call was pure genius. If not for anything more than paying back Florida fans and their coach for mocking Garrison Hearst Heisman run. After piling up the score one of their players struck a Heisman pose while another knocked him over. Symbolizing an end to Garrisons hopes. Funny the things people forget over time.

Richt should call for it again next year, but with 3rd teamers. LOL!

I'm with Tom completely as to running up the score.

Tailback, as long as it's only three times every 18 years I can handle the so called payback.

As to doing it again with 3rd stringers, that's fine by me, we'll see how long the SEC suspends Richt.

My early line on the Florida - Georgia game next year is that Florida returns to the winners circle, how about your thoughts?

You Gator fans think football started in the 90's?

As for who wins next year? I think UGA returns almost the same team that beat Florida this year? You guys will field the same team that lost to UGA. My guess is both teams will improve. Score will be about the same. Plus Richt is in the Gators head with his brilliant call.

 Tailback .... again, I suggest you think long and hard about sanctioning the abhorent, intentional rule-violating behavior of a former cane and former nole .......

Really, just think about it. Richt has the UGa team acting as though they are nolies, playing for fsu-north: acting like thugs on the field, intentionally breaking rules, taunting opponents, and now .... wearing black jerseys!!

Before long, there will be a statue outside of Sandord stadium .... one with Richt wearing face paint, riding a bulldog, carrying a flaming spear.

TB, if you had ended the above sentence 4 words early, it would have been a very sensible post.

Holy cow, they ran to endzone and celebrated with their teammates. It's not like they hired a sniper to take out the qb!
