I haven't bored you folks with my work situation, but since it seems to be heading uphill again I'm gonna celebrate a little. in mid October Bell Helicopter decided they didn't need about 350 employees. I was one of those. Took my 2 weeks severance and hit the bricks. Fortunately for me DFW is a fairly target rich area for companies that still produce things (I'm an ME by trade)... SO... after flirting with GE, and a few others I have accepted an offer from Triumph Aerostructures. They make aircraft sections for military and commercial customers. Would have liked to get out of aerospace, but oh well... gotta pay the bills. And... in case you fellas didn't know - Kesley has recently made a career/life change moving back to Texas. Where? College Station! Now I have a built in tailgate buddy and place to crash after games! Funny how things work out sometimes... 8)
Scott, good for you and good for Kes. You obviously are a capable young man with a solid resume, to have been hired as quickly as you were. Good luck in the new job.
Hey.... I was a 54 year old cut loose two weeks before Christmas in an economy that had slipped into near Depression and I was hired by May despite the fact that the dastardly Obama inherited the mess 4 months earlier. Seriously Scott.... I obviously know what it's like..... congratulations on the new job.
I guess I WAS a young guy back when we all started this little community, but I don't think 48 falls in that category any more... Thanks guys, it wasn't too bad. Bell has been downsizing, so it wasn't a surprise. I had time to make a little cushion so life has been ok. It did suck not making it through the holidays, but I've got my pitcher of lemonade now, so all's well that ends well.
Congrats on the new job Scott, do they have a good Dental Plan? I'll have to tailgate with you guys for the ND/A&M series....you or Kes can feed me my pablum and push my wheel chair to the old folks section. I'll wear extra depends don't worry.
