I was looking at last year's final rankings and noticed UF was 3-1 vs. members of the Final Post-Bowl Top 10. That's really not too shabby. I am curious as to how some of your teams fared vs. the final top 10??
LOL...you know how they did. ND was 1-1 vs final top 10. I think the first official top 25 for 2013 comes out today.
2012 is behind us. What is behinda me... is not important. Dooley was a good man... he did wonders for bringing class, not wins back to the program. Now it is Jones' time in the saddle. We may not win 'em all, but we will win a few that we are not favored in.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/ncaa/polls/ Looks like Bama was 2-1 vs. last year's final Top 10. Near as I can tell no one else won three games vs. that Top 10 so UF and Muschamp managed a pretty good season there. I would be happy.... very happy if Florida went 3-1 against this year's Final Top 10. 8)
No doubt the lousy bowl performance probably helps this Gator team prepare for the season to come. That bad game doesn't negate the great wins from last season though. It was just a Sugar Bowl.... at least it wasn't for the NC or anything like that......
And in the good timing dept. this is from an article in today's Gatorsports online: "The Gators have a pair of potential NFL first-round picks in juniors Loucheiz Purifoy and Marcus Roberson and a plethora of depth behind them. But despite the talent and numbers at the position, the returning corners still feel embarrassed. The sour taste of the Sugar Bowl hasn’t left their mouths, and by design. In the UF football facilities, there’s a huge sign with two scoreboards showing last year’s losses to Georgia and Louisville, along with the message, “Never Forget.”
Jesus Christ.. 2 posts no real answer and you're ignoring Ralph's very real inquiry about Florida football.... sorry man, I didn't mean to cut you at the knees so early.
First post = real answer.... "That bad game doesn't negate the great wins from last season though" Lousy unmotivated performance from Florida.... highly motivated great perfromance from Charlie Strong's bunch and TB is the real real deal at Qb. If UF had played that same uninspired game vs. those top ten teams they played last season the UF record vs. final top ten would have been 0-4. Ralph.... I hope Driskel is ready to go vs. the Canes. I think the Florida team will be motivated to do well and I expect a close Gator W in a hard fought intra-state battle. It's better for UF that this is early in the season... before the SEC slate takes it's toll.
Can't argue with that Dave. Has there been any word on Jones and his viral infection issue? I am feeling the best in years for Miami's upcoming games. We all know the talent is there, hence our offensive juggernaut. The unknown is our defense but as I said in a previous topic we have 20 starters returning with half of them from the defense. Our strength this season is our offensive line then the QB and RB position. If I read into the Gators properly the defense is its strength. Which strength has it together by game two is anyone's guess. I'm real curious what new tweaks our new offensive coordinator (formerly FSU's the past five seasons) has installed. Expect a quick strike format then power running behind the experienced offensive line.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/blogs/swamp-things/os-gators-gators-in-uncharted-waters-with-ailing-tailback-matt-jones-20130802,0,3442131.post Sounds like Jones is getting better but I don't expect we'll see him on the field in the opener..... but it sounds likely he will play vs. Miami. 112th last season vs. the run for UM might make him want to speed up that recovery... UF has played great defense vs. the noles the past few years.... especially the last two. That bodes well for the Gator D vs. the new OC.
Lol, that is always a possibility but remember were not the Noles and have won more than lost when playing the Gators be it SEC or not. I'll take the odds with Miami in this one...
The game should be as close as the all time W-L record between the two: 28-26 Miami. No doubt Miami has some talent on the O side... but I do think UF's D will be tenacious once again this season. And UF held JFF and the Aggies to 17 at their place and basically beat down FSU at their place in the second half so I feel good about UF's chances down at Miami.
It should be a fun game to watch, especially since my offspring will be enrolled at Florida by then. I just wish it was a night game to enhance the fun a little bit...
