Versailles, MO. MARTIN RALLY ENDS ON 1ST PLAYOFF HOLE 4 strokes down with 4 holes left. What's a boy to do? Well, if you've got a mixture of Cornhusker and Devil Dog blood in ya, you start chargin' up the friggin' hill slashing and stabbin' till nothings stands in your way anymore. And that's exactly what Martin did. Going birdie, par, bogey, par down the stretch, Martin capitalized on several mistakes by 12 year old Jeff Chilpins to force a playoff. Chilpins then turned the tables on Martin on the 1st playoff hole when Martin chunked a wedge shot after Chilpins was safely on the green and made his 2 putt for the win.
Ah the summer begins! Sounds like he's got his competitive fires lit and is ready to roll. Good luck to him, you can't win'em all but you can sure give it a hell of a try! Terry
In other proud old man news, the 7 year old, playing in his 1st year of machine pitch, went 3 for 4 with a inside the parker, triple and single. Those achievements slightly tarnished by several fielding errors by the 2nd baseman..... MY LOINS RULE!!!
Yeah watching the 7 y/o crowd play is pretty funny at times. I remember watching my nephew play and noting that when they went to the plate they tried their best to spit and adjust themselves like major leaguers. Anything that went past the infield had a good chance of being either a triple or inside the park hr. But the best part about going to the games was the hot young moms in the stands!! Terry
