It's the Foundation set up by the Eli Lily and Company founders. Apparently all have been gong great guns and the Colleges and Universities in Indiana are benefitting, as well as a scholarship fund and a bunch for local charities. Kind of under the radar gorillia in it's field.

This is from a poster on the board I found this on....I'm aware of Eli Lily but just never think of it like I do Microsoft, Apple, Tesla, etc.

The success of Mounjaro and Zepbound (combined annual run rate will probably top $30B soon) is driving the stock price of Lilly and thus the Lilly Endowment which owns close to 100 million shares. It sells them off on a consistent rate. I believe they have to spend ~ 5% a year (?) - and the stock price has grown about 10 fold over the last 6 years - causing a dramatic increase in endowment disbursements. The foundation now is materially bigger than Gates Foundation or Harvard's endowment. Just the other day they announced grants to "13 colleges and universities in Indiana totaling more than $300 million to support community development projects jointly envisioned by the institutions and local stakeholders to improve quality of life and place in their communities." ND got $30M. Some smaller schools got staggering amounts for their size.

Indianapolis, the State of Indiana, and then many Christian charities in the US more broadly are benefiting hugely from Lilly's stock rise given the Lilly Endowment's philosophy of retaining Lilly stock vs diversification. Note: They also gave $100M to the UNCF earlier this year.

INDIANAPOLIS – Lilly Endowment Inc. has approved grants to 13 colleges and universities in Indiana totaling more than $300 million to support community development projects jointly envisioned by the institutions and local stakeholders to improve quality of life and place in their communities.

The Endowment awarded the five-year implementation grants, which range from more than $12 million to $32 million each, through its initiative, College and Community Collaboration (CCC). The competitive initiative is designed to encourage Indiana’s colleges and universities to work closely with community stakeholders to envision and jointly undertake significant community development efforts—beneficial to both the institution and community—to create more vibrant places in which to live, learn, work and play. As expressed by many college and university leaders, a vibrant local community is increasingly important to the institutions’ efforts to attract and retain faculty, staff and students.
