As I predicted, Garner was forced to demote Lidge. He's saying all the right things, you know, he's our closer and I just want to take the pressure off of him for awhile while he gets his pitches back in tune..etc. This is a good comment from an ESPN writer.
Terry, I agree. The wrter was "fair and balanced". There is another possible scenario to the story. There are a lot of closers we all forget about who were unhittable for a while then sank into oblivion because of some issue with their delivery or pitches which batters catch onto. I'm not just talking about the names the writer mentioned. So far, Lidge matches this description. If he can get solid coaching, maybe he can correct the problem and come back. Time will tell. I hesitate to describe the problem as between the ears, but I'm probably a minority of one in that regard.
