I have personally met this fine lady and this letter published on a Gator sports site just confirms how nice and gracious she really is:

Nice gesture. It's not very often a former coaches wife gets to stay in town and be happy about it. More common to be glad to be done, because hubby has been fired and likely the last year or two were miserable for the family.

It has to be hard on a coaches family to hear dad being called an idiot or incompetent all the time on radio, in the press, by fans, etc. It must be really hard on the kids, going to school and hearing their peers bashing their dad. Shelly hasn't had to experience that, they were hero's at BGSU, at Utah and winning 2 Nat'l Championships at UF puts them on a real high.

You're right Terry....there is a lot of love there left on the table.

I suspect if Stephen Orr Spurrier moved to Gainesville there would be the same kind of love.

No doubt in my mind if Spurrier moved back to Gainesville he would be loved.

I don't expect that to happen though, he has a home in Crescent City.

Shelly Meyer is and has been a class act as is her husband.
