    Go Vandy!!

For once, they not only control their own destiny...but they control their own fate in regards to the SEC East race. Sure it is a pipe dream but...

If they beat Auburn this week, the numbers game starts.. They may well find themselves in a spot in which they could split the Georgia/Florida series and still be in a spot to tie for the title.

Lots of football left to play though...

They certainly seem to be almost a lock for a bowl game, which would be huge for them. But I would be shocked if they won the SEC East and or finished better than 8-4. That would be a great season for them.

    Terry,

Don't get me wrong, that would be a fantastic season for them! At the same time, they have historically given some of the SEC East big boys fits. I think this Auburn game will tell us quite a bit about Vandy and Auburn. If Vandy wins this game, they stand a very real chance at beating Tennessee (you read that right)..

Anyway, a lot of it has to do with numbers that...if they can get to the right point in the schedule...have to be worked out one way or the other.

Georgia still has games with Tennessee, Vandy, @ LSU, Florida, Kentucky @ Auburn in the SEC.

Florida has: @Arkansas (win), LSU, Kentucky, Georgia, @ Vandy and SCAR remaining in the SEC.

Vandy has: Auburn, @ Miss State, @ Georgia, Florida, @Kentucky, and Tennessee.

As you can see.. with UF and UGa both being down a game in conference and both may well lose again... Vandy is in unknown waters here

Vandy is a 2.5 point dog to Auburn and probably will be favored vs. three of their remaining SEC opponents.

Ga and Fla can both be bitten by the Commodores.

They could be a real threat in the East if they get by Auburn.

    Dave,

I think you see this the same way that I do here. I am not calling their shot or anything. I wrote this more as a 'holy cow, can you believe where they are?' kinda thread...

I never thought I'd see it.

Take Vandy and the points. Right now, I would take Vandy and give the 4 points so taking 4 is like getting more than a TD gift.

If the game was Vandy vs. Tennessee this week, I would take them if I had to give a full TD. Vandy has been getting better little by little over the last few years. They will go to a bowl and Tennessee will not unless Fulmer grows a pair and gets out of that corner he backed himself into.

Great game, great effort by Vandy. The Auburn offensive coaches should submit their letters tomorrow.
