It doesn't make sense to me, but he would get about a $15 mil payout and no doubt get a decent job elsewhere. Les Miles To Be Fired?
Yeah I don't know where they are going to go to get a better coach than Les Miles. Meyer is not leaving Ohio State, Nick Saban is not leaving Alabama, Jim Harbaugh is not leaving Michigan. I can't believe Jimbo Fisher would leave FSU for LSU. Steve Spurrier would be nuts to come out of retirement to move to Baton Rouge amongst those crazy fans. Who is there? Guys who I wonder if they will move..include Dan Mullen, and Rich Rodriquez.
Terry, I think there is a possibility that Jimbo Fisher leaves FSU. I think Fisher would get a pretty good raise.
That would be a kick in the nuts for FSU if Fisher left for LSU. What's up with FSU, don't they have crazy rich donor/backers who will pay big money to keep a coach, or maybe they think there is a better coach out there ready to go to FSU. Jimbo has done very well recruiting at FSU, and sort of reestablished FSU as a premier recruiting power somewhat like they were in the Bobby Bowden glory days. Granted LSU is also a fertile recruiting ground, but still.
Terry I think it has more to do with the SEC Network pouring big bucks to the SEC teams. I think Fisher has an easier road to a championship in the ACC, but then again Clemson has come on strong. I think that the LSU fans are delusional. Year in and year out Miles has his team in competition for the SEC and National Championship. However Bama is making it difficult for all the West teams and the East when it comes to the Championship game. I don't remember the last time an East team won the Championship. And unfortunately that looks like the case again this year.
LSU fans are truly delusional. Fisher did it in the dead ACC before Clemson and NC rose up to greater heights and also in the dumbed down years of an ailing Meyer and Muschump at Florida. Good luck Jimbo over in the SEC West.....
So much luck is involved with winning a conference championship and a National Championship. It is like winning a pro golf tournament. You have to put yourself in a position to win and then get lucky. Miles consistently puts LSU in a position to win but the bounces have gone against him in the last few years. I'm not sure LSU is going to be able to do better than Miles. I think the same goes for Georgia if they make a move too. 8)
Here's another article indicating that this might have been in the works going back to spring of this year. The Assistants contracts had a clause that if Miles were no longer the coach the contract terminates. The Backstory at LSU
Bill's story is the right path. A&M got Chavis partially because of those contract stipulations. He saw the writing on the wall, and made his move before it was made for him. I don't think it was necessarily because Les might get fired, but simply because he might give it up at the end of that contract leaving the others adrift. Their season has just accelerated the process.
This is just insanity. How can Miles recruit without having his nuts cut off by his own AD now? If I'm recruiting, I'm attacking the hell out of that top ranked recruiting class he has over there. You don't even know if this guy will be your head coach next November, let alone for your career. Jimbo played this nicely into a raise in a year in which he didn't do anything to deserve it. He's not leaving Florida State. There's no better talent, there's no other school and police force willing to assist you in your winning ways by turning the other cheek. He's literally king of the panhandle (I'm pretty sure you get a gold Skynryd shirt and a year of free Waffle House with that job). Although LSU has more in common with Angola than it does Tulane, it's still not as sweet of a gig as FSU.
