ESPN's Lee Corso: ``Miami is not ready to compete for a national title yet, but from an image standpoint, their reputation has gone up so much. All the troublemakers are at Florida now. No one at Miami gets in trouble anymore.
When was the last hint of problems at Miami? Willie Williams, 7th Floor Rap Crew, or the FIU incident? Were they all under Coker?
The former head coach of Indiana is a FSU alum. Certainly, he wouldn't try to stir things up at the other two big-time Florida schools, would he?
I'm going to pre-order a copy of Nevin Shapiro's new book for old Lee. Of course, Lee will have to find and pay for his own "reader". Hmmmmm .. maybe I should just wait for the "books on tape" version for the old nolie player (BSPhysEd '57) and coach who is from Miamuh. Heck, I wonder if Lee would be interested in an internet-based Music History class from FSU? They could use the help since Jarmon Fortson and Nigel Carr are unavailable to do so.
I agree it's just Corso prodding us nutty fans into convulsions and especially enjoying the jabbing because it's the Gators....It's the Nole coming out of him...
Randy Shannon has had only one arrest since taking the head coaching job at Miami. That was Robert Marve who got in a fight with his girlfriend and broke the mirror off a car when he got mad and tried to deny it... I'm not saying we are the saints of St. Mary's. The NCAA is on the campus investigating three sports and now a guy named Nevin Shapiro an ex-UM booster is planning a tell-all book he claims will expose NCAA violations committed by former Hurricanes players from 2001-2003. The book may take some time because he is currently serving a 25 year sentence in NJ for a 900 million dollar ponzi scheme. He says he will not release his book until his release...Evidently he promised some kind of tell-all book about Shaq as well a few years back but it never materialized. I like Shannon a lot and after having Jimmy Johnson, Dennis Erickson and Butch Davis use us as a stepping stone on the way to the NFL its great to have a coach who wants to actually stay for the long term...If he wins 10 games this year and manages to make it to the ACC championship game or at the very least finally win a bowl game he should satisfy the spoiled S. Florida fans. Corso is correct in saying we are probably not quite ready to compete for the national title but we are very close and will come close this year. If not for a brutal early schedule say one like Boise St will play we would be in the hunt... RC
This is from this week's Game Notes (Media guide) for the ND-Purdue game: That's pretty convincing evidence that Miami is on the right track.
